This was originally a thread about teachers. Please refrain from making offensive remarks about people. Using derogatory terms for different nationalities is not funny and all posts are covered by the AUP, even those apparently written in a jocular manner.
Thanks.

I'd like to see children actually spend a day at school. School hours have been steadily cut since the '60s. What's wrong with lessons starting at , 10 minutes morning break, 45-60 mins for lunch, 10 mins afternoon break and finish at
Yes, teachers would have to be there from 8 and leave about 5 - welcome to my world, people.
They also do not teach every period (in a well organised school) and can use these non-teaching periods for preparation - or use TA's for that instead of as low-cost stand-in teachers. It is up to the school to ensure the lessons can be prepared - but it's not like every lesson is unique, prepare once - use many times.
I know as we all do that there are some incompetent teachers, but also some very good ones that do a very difficult job, dealing with unruly kids.
So I for one clapped my hands for the teachers and common sense, that this is now going to be made law.
Teachers in many circumstances need all the help they can get, dealing with little shits in their class rooms.
Hopefully this will make their lives a litle easier, when they are trying to do their job.
I know from my sister's experience (TA in a Midlands Junior School) that there is far too much scope for some people (who happen to be teachers) to spend their working day swinging the lead while others (who also happen to be teachers) work hard to produce effective and interesting lessons.
I think (and have thought since I was at achool myself) that it is simply too hard to get rid of teachers that do less than thay shold and therefore damage children's education. OK, we can get rid of teachers who hit children, but teaching is a skill, a hard one, and those that simply can't hack it or don't care are damn near impossible to kick out.
Is there not a shortage of qualified teachers?
what about incompetent school kids? there must a few of them about to make the teachers look worse than they are?
