So Mr. Scargit has lost the right to have his home paid for for life.

Seems a strange thing for the NUM to do to such a huge figure within their union. At his height he was one of the most powerful men in the UK, and held the country to ransom on many occasions, and had so much power that the NUM brought down a Conservative Government.
I wonder if any Socialists will be willing to put Mr Scargit up for a few months? Strangely I would presume that the people who worshiped him in the past, will now want to distance themselves from a man who helped to decimate their industry because of his fight and hatred of Mrs Thatcher during many disputes.
What do others think if anything?
As with all union leaders , who live in a different world/universe to those who pay into the union... no sympathy

I think nothing of the arrogant weasel.
He ripped off the country, he ripped off his members and then tried to rip off the Union by trying to be too clever for his own good.
There is a god after all.

There is a simple solution
1: Do an internet search
2: Travel to said office
3: Take bottle
3: Fill bottle with petrol
4: stuff rag into neck of bottle
5: Light rag
6: throw into reception
7: repeat steps 1 to 6 until desired effect is achieved
These steps are most effective when acompanied by a large angry mob

Only if I get to burn her at the stake tomorrow morning.
I believe Mrs T sold off the assets that were losing money?
Saint Margaret? Kind of has a bit of a ring to it though.
Pity Mrs T did not sell off the banks eh? If she had we would not be in this mess. Not sure why people blame a PM who left that post in 1990? 22 years ago with countless other PM's since and people still blame her for today's messes. Never understood that argument at all.

Because once you sell all your assets to make your bank balance look good in the short term it makes it exceedingly difficult to balance the books in the future .
If you have an asset and borrow against it, even if it decreases in value in the short term, you still own it and can hope that its value will increase in the future .
This is why the state owned EDF (French) is now running so much of the energy production in this country.
Errrr so why are ' some ' blaming her for this countries current mess, when it was the banks dodgy borrowing that has led this country down the slippery slope to bankruptcy?
Prey tell why after 22 years she is still taking the blame? Your analogy holds no water. :bounce:
what war crimes ????? she sent a task force to protect BRITISH PEOPLE and WON !!!!!, yawn i'm getting bored of the lefties now xx goodnight
If you sell all your assets to pay for a holiday, what do you have when you come home.
Thats the easiest way I can explain what that SICK BITCH did to the once Great Britain...

She was in charge of the government that sold the assets ....
Can`t make it any clearer for you ....sorry.
But she sold them over 22 years ago. We have had many PM's since then and this countries current diabolical state is down to the banks, not Mrs T. Cannot understand why people fail to see the obvious...
The unions were bringing this country to it's knees and she put into place union reforms which have made this country a far better place than it was in the strike ridden 1070's with the great ( now homeless ) Mr Scargit.
No need to appologise though, and I am now going to watch the Power in darts.
Oh and........
The first stab at selling off state assets to raise cash came when theCallaghangovernment, at the behest of the International Monetary Fund, sold 17% of its shares in BP in May 1977, two years before Mrs Thatcher came to power. Labour needed to raise money quickly, and selling shares was a reasonably painless way of doing so.
Seems Thatcher got the idea from the great past Labour leader. Maybe we should all be blaming him for this countries mess now? :bounce:
Flower ......The argies were warned not to sail into Falkland's waters and i know a VERY PROUD man who was on the submarine that sank the belgrano IN A WAR !!
Well getting back onto the topic.....Was the NUM right to take the court action it did to evict Mr Scargil?
oh ... yes starlight too right lol x hahahaha ( and also right to take whatever action was taken to boot the diegos off our soil ) lol

And your point ?
There were many brave men sent to liberate the Falklands and many died and were injured in appalling circumstances ......but the sinking of the Belgrano ....nobody should be "proud" of that moment .
Bad things happen in wars and sometimes those who give the orders should be brought to account.
Bliar.....
I come from a mining family...and a former mining community. The thing people forget is what Scargill and the miners were fighting for was not more money....but just their jobs. They wanted to keep the pits open. People ridiculed Scargill and said he was scare mongering. It turns out it he was right as all pits were closed. Littleton Pit in Cannock was the most productive pit in the whole of Europe. Yet Mrs Thatcher still chose to close it....as there were cheaper Polish coal to be had. That coal industry ofcause being heavily subsided. Everything Mr scargill warned about happened. He was telling the truth...Mrs thatcher was lieing through her teeth.
She was an out of control power freak. She lapped up the Yuppie days....the Loads of Money days...where bankers were encouraged to gamble with our money. We were all told ownimg property was what we should all strive to do. That to have no concern for our fellow citizens was a good attitude !!! Even her own party saw the monster she became and kicked her out.
Lets hope and pray we never have another.
As for scargill and the property...it all depends what was in his contract. If his contract said he was intitled to it, then he should keep it. If it doesn't then no he should not keep it. Quite simple really.

I totally agree with what you have said here Dean. I remember the Yuppie days driven under the Thatcher government. Wasn't this the time when everyone wanted to be traders ? When greed led to black Monday 1987?
What did Stock brokers every produce for this country?
I remember Thatcher saying all can own their own property.
In 1988 didn't she then push houses prices up by doing away with the Tax Relief on single couples that lived together. Which made people see an investment in property?
Then by 1991 mortgage interest rates had risen to 15% which let to a lot of people losing their homes. But lets not forget there wasn't any council houses to fall back on. Only private landlords who were pushing rents up to cover the costs of paying back the mortgages of their property.
It was around this time that two parents found they had to both work to meet the rent/mortgage and credit started becoming a way of life for most people as the knock on effect of Thatcher seeing off houses and driving everything started to have an effect?
It all started then, people were all caught up and had no choice of putting roofs over heads one of the fundamental needs of people, is shelter.
Many people since the Thatcher days have had two choices pay money into the landlords hand and make them richer to buy more property or try and get a mortgage and take their chances. After all they had seen all our financial services taking risk with others money. There were self cert mortgages to be had anyone could get a mortgage which was what Thatcher said all can own their own property. I believe she lead a new mentally which is reaping the rewards today of what she sowed.
I wonder if people have heard of the Chaos theory, where a butterfly effect came have a devastating effect it starts with a small ripple that can takes years to cause giant waves. Thatcher might have won a war, she might have won against the unions but her attitude that all can have, have destroyed family, mentality and the community and drove greed and in doing so has destroyed a lot of what this country had and today is suffering from which is chaos. I also blame other governments for being blinded and not stopping this effect from happening.
I believe Thatcher had an idea of what she was doing but she wasn't bothered about the longer term consequences of her actions. Which is the problem with all the politicians they have short sighted views.
What an absolutely apalling grasp on modern history some of you have .... for most of these pages I was convinced that this was a joke thread,I'm still not sure
