So Mr. Scargit has lost the right to have his home paid for for life.
Seems a strange thing for the NUM to do to such a huge figure within their union. At his height he was one of the most powerful men in the UK, and held the country to ransom on many occasions, and had so much power that the NUM brought down a Conservative Government.
I wonder if any Socialists will be willing to put Mr Scargit up for a few months? Strangely I would presume that the people who worshiped him in the past, will now want to distance themselves from a man who helped to decimate their industry because of his fight and hatred of Mrs Thatcher during many disputes.
What do others think if anything?
As with all union leaders , who live in a different world/universe to those who pay into the union... no sympathy
She led the country against scargil and against the argies . A modern day Churchill, she should be made a Saint
errrrr i think the country is in a mess and cannot cope due to flood gates being opened by a certain labour party ..... as always .....and the next government is left to pick up the pieces !!!! as like errrrrrrrrrrrrrr now !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
sorry but brown and genius don't have any word association
I believe Mrs T sold off the assets that were losing money?
Saint Margaret? Kind of has a bit of a ring to it though.
Pity Mrs T did not sell off the banks eh? If she had we would not be in this mess. Not sure why people blame a PM who left that post in 1990? 22 years ago with countless other PM's since and people still blame her for today's messes. Never understood that argument at all.
yeh the banks are sinking now .... the best thing to sink in Maggie's reign was the Belgrano .... hahahaha they got wot they deserved
what war crimes ????? she sent a task force to protect BRITISH PEOPLE and WON !!!!!, yawn i'm getting bored of the lefties now xx goodnight
If you sell all your assets to pay for a holiday, what do you have when you come home.
Thats the easiest way I can explain what that SICK BITCH did to the once Great Britain...
Oh and........
The first stab at selling off state assets to raise cash came when theCallaghangovernment, at the behest of the International Monetary Fund, sold 17% of its shares in BP in May 1977, two years before Mrs Thatcher came to power. Labour needed to raise money quickly, and selling shares was a reasonably painless way of doing so.
Seems Thatcher got the idea from the great past Labour leader. Maybe we should all be blaming him for this countries mess now? :bounce:
Flower ......The argies were warned not to sail into Falkland's waters and i know a VERY PROUD man who was on the submarine that sank the belgrano IN A WAR !!
Well getting back onto the topic.....Was the NUM right to take the court action it did to evict Mr Scargil?
I come from a mining family...and a former mining community. The thing people forget is what Scargill and the miners were fighting for was not more money....but just their jobs. They wanted to keep the pits open. People ridiculed Scargill and said he was scare mongering. It turns out it he was right as all pits were closed. Littleton Pit in Cannock was the most productive pit in the whole of Europe. Yet Mrs Thatcher still chose to close it....as there were cheaper Polish coal to be had. That coal industry ofcause being heavily subsided. Everything Mr scargill warned about happened. He was telling the truth...Mrs thatcher was lieing through her teeth.
She was an out of control power freak. She lapped up the Yuppie days....the Loads of Money days...where bankers were encouraged to gamble with our money. We were all told ownimg property was what we should all strive to do. That to have no concern for our fellow citizens was a good attitude !!! Even her own party saw the monster she became and kicked her out.
Lets hope and pray we never have another.
As for scargill and the property...it all depends what was in his contract. If his contract said he was intitled to it, then he should keep it. If it doesn't then no he should not keep it. Quite simple really.
What an absolutely apalling grasp on modern history some of you have .... for most of these pages I was convinced that this was a joke thread,I'm still not sure
