oooh eeer sounds like your massing for an assault, let me re-engineer it.
If we had a society that was dedicated to homosexuality and didn't breed, who would reproduce? Would hetero sex be illegal then? etc.
If animals did not breed, how would we feed ourselves? vegetarianism? okay but not very tasty.
Why would a society that treated all equally regardless of sexuality be a society dedicated to homosexuality? That's a question for another debate. It doesn't answer the question on who would reproduce.
And why would that be a childless society anyway, many gay couples choose to become parents? gay people can not breed with each other can they? So they do not actually reproduce new children they acquire abandoned ones. Its a noble thing to do, but does not add to the population. And gay people are extraordinarily talented people, their contribution by reproduction would be valuable. If breeding ceased where would children come from? stem cells and test tubes? farms producing perfect genetic clones ? Whose genes would be used?
Awarding animals equal rights with humans is an arguement some have,but whilst so many of our species remain oppressed and discriminated against i ll lay my self open t the charge of specism and say lets sort things for humans first. Quite right, and enjoy your roast tomorrow.

I think being gay doesnt mean your biology works any differntly from straight peoples,babies can be made exactly the same way as they are now, it simply means the overiding reason for sex would be the desire for a child not sexual satisfaction,a situation many people are in today. Well of course, being gay doesn't mean you have reinvented human biology. how can a gay couple have a desire for a child by having sex, its not going to work is it? So hey ho reproduction out of necessity. But requiring a heterosexual act obviously. But again who by?
So we return to the idea of why treating all groups equally somehow in your mind equates with one group becoming dominant? return? was that idea presented?

I think im being dense.......the theoretical gay couple would find someone of the opposite gender to mate with for the purposes of reproduction,by anyone who wanted a child,
Sorry Duncan im not sure wat i havnt explained,it happens often enough today,in thiss theoretical society it could happen to.
And yes,you brought yp the idea of a society dominated by homosexuality on a thread discussing minority rights so i think you did presnt the idea that equality equates with dominance

I think the question should be us there any place for politics in religion. Why should over two billion Catholics and / or over two billion Moslems give a flying fuck about some stupid government act drawn up by some snivling shit sat behind a desk and a few self interest groups. The equalities act is just another state sponsered crock of shit made up to give the govt more control over our lives. Oh and don't forget the expensive new quangos that are sure to follow. I don't care what gay folk do, it's their lives, but if these religions are against them why would they want to ge involved?

I know what you mean, but then on the face of it all the more modern religions judge us on our morals. The religions of old had no such rules but were all but wiped out by crusaders from other countries. The good thing is that the Druids, Pagans, Odinists, etc are having a period of Renascence. Personally I like looking round old churches and cathedrals, but compared to the sun, the moon, the soil, Stone Henge? Sod Xtianity, and to hell with politicians. As for discrimination? It is only an issue if you allow it to be.

Well,that wasn't the point of the comment. Looking at it from your prospective, I don't think that we can say for sure they caused the problems, as it can be argued that they inspired a break from an even worse state of affairs that existed before.
The point I was making was that they gained huge influence over the people as leaders and inspirers at their times and if they came back to us in the 21st Century they would say different things now which were not exactly the same as the things in the Christian and Muslim faiths as we know them. Indeed, those diferent things might not be all good or all bad as was the case with the original teachings - but they would be different.
