There could be...........if someone actually organised it and it wasn't stopped by the local authorities as a potential public disorder problem.
I just don't think it will get off the ground. Just some prat spouting off on an internet forum and the journo's taking that persons voice as speaking for the whole community.

I do not believe peaceful protest should ever be stopped, whether we like what they have to say is irrelevant. The day that protest's are stop we are no longer free, some thing Labour has been working very hard on for many years.
Peaceful protest should always be allowed to happen in the perfect world.
However, in the interests of public safety then some protests should be stopped IMO. This would be one that should be stopped as I could only see an awful lot of people getting hurt over it.

Have to agree to disagree on this one, the day that "some one" can say this protest is OK but that ones not is a very sad day. We will then be in a situation where any protest which does not suit the government would be stopped....

Why is he a twat?
He sounds like a man of integrity to me, at least he is upfront about his beliefs.
Islamic law is the law of Caliphate, Anjem Choudary is no apostate.
Now you might try and negotiate around this conundrum with nonsesne about 'moderate muslims' and the 'whole community' but the fact is, Choudary is representative of far more than you can ever hope to convince yourself otherwise of.
Your implication that there is a whole swathe of 'good' muslims who stand against Choudary, is cobblers; if anything, many muslims have an issue with Anjem not because of what he says, but rather because of who they believe he is saying it on behalf of ie: MI5 and their state controlled outfit El Mujhajiroon.
Two into one dont go, which is why we have the problem with Islam in Europe that we do; its nothing to do with 'bad' muslims at all.
This is the Gates Of Vienna, only difference is some folks seem to enjoly holding the things open for the invaders.
I didn't call him a twat.........a prat is what I said wink
I didn't state there was a load of good or bad muslims out there supporting one over the other. What I do believe is that there is a religion being discussed that is being hijacked and portrayed by one set of people. It needs to be seen holistically to get a true view of the religion. You will always have the extremists in all the major religions who want their god/gods/non-gods to the only one and will revert to violence to get their opinions to be the only opinions. That is the whole point of religion..........isn't it dunno. They all say that theirs is the only true way.

PS this is out of sync sorry..........I posted and didn't notice the other one

meh, its state controlled.
watch for Choudarys group to go up against the other state outfit the EDL, of which supposedly representing the British.
rolleyes
Its attitudes like that that start the trouble in the first place....

Stopping a protest for public safety is not banning the protest per se. What I mean is the time and place the protest is going to be organised for.
For example, organising a naked day protest for the freedom of wearing no clothes would be acceptable to me if it was organised outside the houses of lords or commons or outside any political office in the country. However, if this was organised on church, synagogue or mosque grounds then this would be unacceptable and could lead to public safety issues by protesters against the protesters for defiling their sacred grounds.
So if these people wish to protest about what they want to then they should be able to do it.......but not in this place.

There is going to be a counter demonstration, I know because I'm going as are thousands of others. Choudry is not going to desecrate Wootton Bassett. I'm not going with the EDL or any other organised group, but if he is allowed to march through that town he cannot be allowed to do so unopposed.

That would suggest that you know when it's taking place - according to that article, even Wiltshire police don't know that yet?

It's been suggested that Wootton Bassett simply closes its doors on the day of the demo. Figuratively turns its back on it, and refuses to engage in what will most likely be a confrontational, and potentially violent counter-demonstration? I hope that's what they'll do. I hope that everyone else will stay away.
I'm not entirely sure that rising to the provocations of a mere handful of idiots from Al-Muhajiroun is entirely the best of British? confused It strikes me that the best way to oppose this so-called 'desecration' of Wootton Bassett is to simply refuse to take part in its 'desecration'?
If everyone simply turns their backs, and chooses to ignore them, so that the headlines the next day are Al-Muhajiroun march, not much happened, bit of a failed exercise on their part really, no Britons dead', and most importantly, above everything else Wootton Bassett retains the dignity it has become known for, well, that would be an infinitely more powerful counter-demonstration IMO.
N x x x ;)
Turning our backs on it would require the cooperation of the media and that does not suit their interests.
I really find it difficult to envisage any scenario where a counter demonstration timed to coincide with this could end well for anyone, I honestly can't see how anyone attending such a demonstration would do so expecting it to pass off without incident.....both sides would seem to me to be unreasonable (at least)in their choice of venue and time...anyone and everyone has a right to protest their point of view....no-one should be allowed to deliberately provoke a riot.

Not yet, but when Choudry releases the date arrangements will be made and agitators, political activists, and the top boys from a lot of Britain's biggest firms will be there. I also have heard that The Zulus of Birmingham City will be there, that'll piss off the so called UAF.
If it kicks off then so be it, some things are worth fighting for.

I Don't agree, the best result would be no one turning up to appose it at all, if only the Media could boycott it as well then that would be the perfect scenario for me

Oh Brighton, FFS. So a few idiots think they'll make some kind of enormous political point, and stir up a bit of trouble, by pissing all over the graves of the dead, and your response is to tell us that 'the top boys of Britain's biggest firms will be there'?
So, I understand that you're definitely not aligning yourself with the hooligan elements in the EDL, or anything like that, but tell me, these 'top boys' you mention? There for a purely peaceful protest, obviously? No 'well-directed boots and fists' at all? confused
It can be a bit of a double edged-sword, this pissing all over the graves of the dead thing, unless of course you have no concept of irony?
N x x x ;)
A protest for the excess loss of lives for both the soldiers and local afghans is over due but organising a march in Wooden Basset is absolute disgusting and MUST not be allowed at all costs.
i worry about these protests or demonstrations as it only takes one nutter with a gun, knife or bomb to cause madness and set community against community.
i have seen choudy shouting death messages in public and i can remember back when the ira were the problem and anything irish was a joke or branded terrorist.
now we have another problem and personally i am sick of seeing people shouting death into a megaphone or telling others that islamic law should be put in place.
do we really want a war on the streets?
i dont.i want to be left alone with what i believe and not be forced to follow any faith and live without the fear of being targetting because of my views.
imagine if the nazi's won. the megaphone brigade would have never lived to enjoy the rights and freedom this great country gives them.
and they should remember that.

IMO wrong. Violence is never the answer when there are other alternatives.

I have admitted on here previously that I was a bad boy in the 80's, before I settled down and became a father and all that. I have a twenty seven year clean slate, but some of the people there will be old friends / enemies of mine. We used to stand shoulder to shoulder at England matches, and lifelong friends of mine have been gushing about the unity and cameraderie they experienced at demos in Manchester, Luton, Cardiff etc. One thing I know is I will not be hiding my face and if it gets nasty I will not run. I'm just a little too fat to "jog on" these days anyway. Hopefully there will just be a load of shouting and being shunted around by the police. There is always a danger with religious fanatics that a bomb will go off or someone will start shooting. Whatever happens Islam4UK will almost certainly be proscribed, Wootton Bassett is the last place in England they should be marching and choudry will surely go down for inciting whatever takes place that day. If this is not opposed it will only be the beginning, our counter demo might just might delay the inevitable civil war that is without question on it's way.

Short sighted and foolish, playing into their hands
Why is it that the people who believe the troops are in Iraq and Afghanistan fighting for our freedom, see no irony in then attempting to curtail this freedom for others? Is it a:hypocrisy? b:Idiocy?or c:both?

I don't think they should be there, I'm totally against this war as I was the one in Iraq. Soldiers follow orders and those who died were ordered to die. The government disrespected their lives now this lot want to disrespect their deaths. The government will be removed in a few months, Choudrey et al will still be here and radical Islam fascists will continue attempting to piss on the memory of our dead.
The government will not be removed in a few months.
Those elected to be the figurehead of government may well be, but the real government will still be there no matter what the voters want.

Ah yes, the pen pushers in the civil service, and at a higher level the lizard people in the city (Rothchilds et al).
We are being shafted and have been for at least the last 100 years. :0(

I think there may be a problem with the sense of proportion here. The rights of women to live in freedom in Afghanistan, and for girls to be educated there without risk of being murdered, are considerably more important than the right of some failed student union tosspot to make a nuisance of himself in public. The rights of nations to regulate rogue states that won't obey international law or oppose terrorism are slightly more important than the right of tossers who don't ever actually do what they threaten to cause alarm and distress via the febrile and hysterical media.
