I didn't mean to offend....just that I live in London and Scotland is a bit far for me to come too often...although I'm hoping to make it up to the Scotland Munch....

No offence taken Helen, just wondered why.
Hope you can make it up to the munch, would be great to meet you.

Satin HAS read this thread, despite me hoping he wouldn't.... probably something to do with certain people directing him to it smackbottom ...... so, depending on location, we might well come along to this. We could do Cheshire, the Midlands tracks, or maybe Lincs. Our little boy is mad on bikes     , how appropriate would it be to bring him along?

I'm toying with the idea of a 3 part Munch, and people can pick and mix which bits they want to go to:
1. Saturday daytime - qualifying sessions, strictly for the petrol heads
2. Saturday evening - private party at a suitably large venue near the track - the usual Munch stuff.
3. Race day - all day buffet/picnic, munching ground to be staked out at the crack of dawn by myself and any other die-hards i can find, everyone else just turn up and join in as hangovers permit ;)
Parts 1 and 3 would definitely be child-friendly, part 2 almost certainly wouldn't.
The reason for including a conventional munch on the saturday night is because some people won't want to stay all day sunday because of getting back for work.
Note: clubbers are likely to be disappointed as most of the venues are out in the sticks, but they all have plenty of hotels nearby, so what i'm hoping is if we get enough people to take over an entire hotel, we could do the saturday night thing there.
I haven't given it a great deal of thought yet, it's still just an idea that has generated rather more interest than i expected, so i am wide open to suggestions. biggrin
Ice
To be honest I don't think this would work as those of us with kids would have to bring them for everything or nothing unless the venue was very local. I would have said that the event should either be a completely family friendly event or an adults only event.
What do the rest of you think?
Roger.
Roger, hows this idea:-
Sat daytime : all welcome
Sat Evening:- Whereever it was, we would probably book a family hotel room and others may do too. That way we could come up with a rota for sharing baby/child sitting. The kids could have a field day, trashing the hotel room, i could bring my laptop which plays dvd's, bring some games maybe, food and drink, hell, they could have their own party!! :thrilled: Maybe the munch could be held at the bar at this hotel??
Already theres, myself and hubby, blue and Satin, daz and lou, warwick, so thats 7 people, even if every parent does a 1 hour stint, thats already 7 hours catered for?
Sunday:- all welcome
smile
Add another set of parents here who would love to try and make it with demon child!!! lol

That sounds like a really good plan. biggrin
A party for the kids and a party for the adults!
Roger.
Again we'd possibly like to bring the kids however, I must admit that I'm a little reticent though. It would have to be a whole kid friendly weekend or not at all for us. My kids are fairly good but leaving them in a room even with a rota just wouldn't work with my kids sad My youngest would seriously panic if he couldn't see us.
If it is child friendly then we may do a camping weekend - most racetracks have campsites nearby and it would help keep the costs to a minimum. Anyone else up for this?
Without the kids then we'd probably only be able to do one day/night as we struggle for babysitters for one night let alone two

Good idea - Daz and his kids love camping - i hate it, but if its only one night then what the hell, lol! we couldnt really do it without the kids unless Daz is on a late - she's getting the hump with the amount of "overtime"(munching) Daz is doing! And like you Cal hunny - Daz's youngest is a total clinger in public - he would get the hump and play the other 2 up if he was on his own!
So as not to conflict with Manchester and Notts in the spring and early summer, I think we should eliminate the first half of the season. The weather's more reliable in the mid/late summer anyway biggrin
So, that leaves us with the following dates to choose from:
July 8 – 10 Snetterton, NORFOLK
July 22 – 24 Oulton Park, CHESHIRE
August 12 – 14 Silverstone, NORTHANTS
August 27 – 29* Cadwell Park, LINCS
Sept 9 - 11 Brands Hatch, KENT
Sept 23 - 25 Donington Park, EAST MIDS
* Denotes Bank Holiday
My personal preferences would be either of the August dates, or the second half of July, but I can make any of them with enough notice.
I like the camping idea, but it would almost certainly mean people having to drive if we have a saturday evening do - just something to bear in mind.
Camping is good, especially at bike events, good bunch of people and normally quite alot going on too

If the plan was for a lot of people to be camping especially if quite a few have got their kids with them how about the sat evening thing just being a barbeque and get together at the campsite?
Otherwise we are back to the babysitting problems again.
Roger.
Okay.... we have a date for this event..............
Sept 9th!!!!! i've had to borrow dazandlou's username because mine isnt working... but i just thought i'd let you all know.
Thanks.........

Just before our wedding as well... we could do lots of embarrassing things to devil_in_part to make it kinda like a stag-do!! lol

We are going to be civilized and democratic about this, you crafty buggers. :lol2:
Ive had a read through and i recon even though the kids would love to see the bikes, due to their ages i cant just bugger off and leave em so i recon we'd be interested in the munch bit itself and leave the kids with a baby we can let our hair down and not need to worry about what theyre up to biggrin
personally i like all the options except donnington. the donnington spectating experience is too far from the action. if we invite saucepans how do we explain how we know each other? personally i am up for either a kids or no kids event, BUT, i wouldn't want the not so lovely stepkids to go and explain to their neanderthal dad how me and my lovely partner took them to a swingers meet!!! We wouldn't compromise the kids but their idjit dad wouldn't see it that way
we could say we all met off a parenting website!!! lol

Which leaves the non-parents at a loss to explain their presence. dunno

The excuse we use to parents is a "friendship" group ..... just people who like to have a laugh and giggle and yes there is sometimes "shock" adult humour ..... explains the accidental slips ;)
Ice good sir, damn fine plan, personally like idea of doing this on bank hol weekend (although it further away from us) as I could use the hol to recover. Camping also fine idea for those of us with tents (rest of you get down in winter sales, they cheap enough)
I think we could prob take over an entire small / medium size campsite for the weekend which would help with problems of who we are (an internet chat board) as no one but campsite owner to explain it to. I also personally like the idea of an 'onsite' munch, less babysitting issues, cheaper (mass organise drinkies and bbq) and sounds fun. Also a lot of the slightly larger sites have a club etc onsite we could host the munch in.
Downsides if we make entire event onsite it would all have to be a little reserved until all the little darlings are asleep, not sure I want to explain why daddy kissed that other lady to my 5 year old. Then again I would prob leave them with grandparents, but for others bringing kids it has to be considered.
Ooo still lots of possibilities and ideas flying around, stand ready to assist as required smile

well as I said before in the Cafe IcePie mate count me and the Daytona in for anywhere except Knockhill......
Sounds a brilliant idea to me...
Chris
(PS anyone need a lift?)

I think knockhill is pretty much ruled out now, as are all the meets I've marked red in the first post. We've got the NW and Notts munches in the early summer, and if the munch calendar gets overloaded people won't be able to go to everything, so I think if we're going to do this, we should just look at the second half of the season. smile
Ice
Certainly interested- will bikers be allowed in?? biggrin
So how are we all for september 9th then????
Superbikes, Sex, Food, and Drink (Not necessarily in that order)
Think I've died and gone to heaven.
Bit early for some detailed planning, but I'm up for this,
Any chance you might do CRMC meetings as well???
Anybody actualy racing on the day??
This sounds like an AWESOME idea! can I come too?
Seriously though, it does sound like it'd be an absolute blast. I live in Suffolk so Mallory, silverstone and donny are all good, the only one which might be out of the question for me is Knockhill, otherwise I'd love to be there!
hi
we are unable to come to this event now. but wish u all alot of fun xxxxxxxxxxxxx
