Following on sort of from Minxys thread, is Britain broken as so many now seem to think it is?
I am not sure if broken is the right word, I would say seriously fractured.
There was a meeting yesterday with people who have been affected by crime recently like, Mrs Newlove, who's husband was kicked to death by ferel thugs.
They were on a panel of people who was asking the question about broken were many influencial people there.
Have a look at the link and yes deecee it is from the Sun. lol
After reading the artical in peoples opinions, is Britain broken?
Oh yes without doubt things are sooo much worse than they have been.
Who remember 1 in 10 of the adult population being unemployed in the nineties
The miners and the police fighting in the eighties
The three day week and power cuts in the seventies
Crisis what crisis???

Course it is- which is howcome I expressed mine that there's an awful lot of stuff with a political slant on it.
It can't be all that bad...
...they haven't re-released any Communards singles yet innocent
I feel that the reason why Britain is 'broken' is due to the fact that it was based or built on a lie.
This lie being the Empire therefore making it Great Britain.
All Empire's fall or destory themsleves because they take & never give anything in return.
So Empire's are cursed due to the wickness that they have done to others.
For the record, I am Mixed Race born & living in Liverpool. All I have experienced living my entire 31 years in this country is negativity.
An example of this is our collectivite obsession with the Weather... confused:
All we do is moan about it raining.
It's Britian it has & will always Rain along with the Weather being unpredictable.
I've been in contact with people from all over the world & even they cannot understand the obsession over the Weather, that we have... :?:
We moan about not getting enough Hot Summers like we are in the same part of the globe as
Jamaica...
Again an example of moaning negative Britian.
As I've mentioned in a previous thread about winning the Lottery, I mentioned about the affect that spending a hoilday in Barbados had on me last year (2006). The people had a pride & respect for there environment that I've never seen.
No spit, no Dog Mess, no litter in the streets, no vomit in the city centre after a Saturday night / Sunday Morning.
Just a quite polite respect for the nation & their history. That manifests in a respect for the elderly, beaches, Police, property.
I would really look back at the History of Great Britain & all you really see is misery....
Absloute Monchary.
Press Gangs.
The exploitation of the most vulnerable for the gain of the few wealthy elite.
London centric...the futher away the less opportunities you have. This has been going on for centuries & still exsits.
The Slave Trade...Africa & the entire African diaspora still are feeling the affect of this today.
Our historical relationship with Alcohol & Illegal Drugs. We drink & take more Drugs than any other nation in Europe... :!:
Their are many things that this nation does well & has given the world for the better...from the Railway / Steam Train to Football to
The Rolling Stones....
So am not Anti - Britian, if you create something on a lie then it will always be negative & poison.
I've tried to contribute to this thread without writing a essay (that would be very easy for me to produce), I hope that you can understand my points either if you agree or disagree.
From,
Wunderhorse.
I didn't read the link to The Sun Newspaper article.
Due to being from Liverpool & a supporter of Liverpool Football Club, I refuse to have anything to do with that newspaper.
Yet I can still respect the points rasied within this thread & therefore the reason why I have made a contribution.
Thank you.
Wunderhorse- I agree with a lot of your points. Just wanted to let you know my response today when someone said "It's a bloody horrible day" (it was chucking down)....I replied that I was enjoying the rain on my skin.
Got a very strange look though! lol
I think I would go so far as too say that in the last two generations we have generally for the mass of the population had it too good in someways, possibly. OK there are some that have suffered but maybe thats the price of the lifestyle for most that we have today which, by and large is a good/better one.
That aside we should all expect to progress as a nation towards a more affluent healthy healthy and fairer society, and thats the job of Government to see that achieved.
Is it that we lose respect for what we have when we have so much? Do we lose sight and forget of how history and our forebears sacrifices and endurance has enabled this decadence we now have.I think sometimes we are all gulity of this.
Broken Britain? I don't think so. Selfish Britain maybe. It seems now that basic decency has to be legislated for rather than a matter of pride or honour.
I am still happy living in the here and now compared to any time in the past so I'm glad to be here where i am for the most part I guess. Rock on Britain  from me.
Frankly, this is one of the long term legacies of the Thatcherite rule.
Nothing to do with Maggie, she was brill...and still is.
No more unions going on strike at a drop of a hat...no more closed shop rubbish...millions more people own their own homes...blah blah blah.
She was not perfect but would rather her be here now, than this rabble with their noses in the trough, and this lot with no bottle and certainly no backbone... roll over Browne for you is certainly finished. lol
The legacy of this Government will be it sold us all down the river with Europe. After that nothing will ever be the same. Where was the promise of a referendum? In the draw with their John Lewis receipts. cool

Erm.....if she was so 'brill' why did her OWN Cabinet give her the ultimatum of them leaving OR her.
Maggie was booted out by her own party.
She was a 'one trick pony' in terms of policy, especially economic.
Ohhh....I think you should check her views & statments about Nelson Mandela & the ANC.
Brill...rubbish.
Also our current PM, Mr. Gordon Brown has saved
£3 Million of our Money so she can have a State Funeral when she dies... mad confused:
I'll be having a party but how can she have a State Funeral she is NO Princess Diana.

All government's policies have long term effects regardless of red or blue.
The "Great God Sterling" attitude and the strip mining of the country's assets by Maggie and her cronies had a long-term affect on Britain.
Now in the noughties we're paying the price.
In another 20 years we'll pay the price for this government's fuck-ups. It's just how politics works.

You shouldn't be subtle darling, say what you really feel :P
I do not care what anyone says about her really. I have my views and you lot are entitled to yours. At least she as a PM had some balls.
This lots balls rolled down the road years ago.
But as I am always right, I will leave this thread on that knowledge. cool

Yes you are right, no other PM would have ever had the balls to fuck up a country so completely :P
Thatcher lacked compassion and didn't care about who suffered as a result of her actions.
In more recent times Labour have been a massive let down.
I don't know what to do with my vote anymore - Labour have failed us but the Tories under Cameron are as bad as they ever were.
I found myself deeply saddened and moved by the article about the pain and courage of the relatives of the street crime victims.
However though not in this case on many other occasions The Sun itself has often used sensationalism and lies to boost its circulation.

There's only the Lib-Dems left and that's where my vote is heading.
True Labour disappeared with Kinnock sad

My opinion: An opinion backed up by history and current events.
Your opinion: An opinion backed up by rose-tinted glasses and based on an apparent view that money takes priority over people.
My ability to have an opinion has nothing to do with Thatcher or her Torquemada-like government.

If it were having a rant I'd be saying more and would be breaching the AUP and would subsequently be banned.
Currently I'm merely expressing an "opinion".
banghead :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:
One of the reason this country has gone to the wall is because people just aren't tolerant of others points of view!!!

Thats true but you are also stating my opinions for me, ie the rose tinted glasses comment.
Lets just leave it at that shall we? You have stated your opinions and I have stated mine. Is it at all possible you can leave it there, or do you always have to disect and comment on everything?
Go on I know you are just eager to put your comment across again, but I will not reply.
