Oh yes without doubt things are sooo much worse than they have been.
Who remember 1 in 10 of the adult population being unemployed in the nineties
The miners and the police fighting in the eighties
The three day week and power cuts in the seventies
Crisis what crisis???
yea..lets bring back the poll tax debacle and riots that followed.......yea..lets bring back mass unemployment....yea lets bring back 15% interest rates and black wednesday...lets bring back the race riots ..oh yea..lets bring back Tory rule..lol.. people have such short memories.
What we have now might not be good....but isn't that the problem..no matter who you vote for
the government gets in !!!!!
I didn't read the link to The Sun Newspaper article.
Due to being from Liverpool & a supporter of Liverpool Football Club, I refuse to have anything to do with that newspaper.
Yet I can still respect the points rasied within this thread & therefore the reason why I have made a contribution.
Thank you.
I think I would go so far as too say that in the last two generations we have generally for the mass of the population had it too good in someways, possibly. OK there are some that have suffered but maybe thats the price of the lifestyle for most that we have today which, by and large is a good/better one.
That aside we should all expect to progress as a nation towards a more affluent healthy healthy and fairer society, and thats the job of Government to see that achieved.
Is it that we lose respect for what we have when we have so much? Do we lose sight and forget of how history and our forebears sacrifices and endurance has enabled this decadence we now have.I think sometimes we are all gulity of this.
Broken Britain? I don't think so. Selfish Britain maybe. It seems now that basic decency has to be legislated for rather than a matter of pride or honour.
I am still happy living in the here and now compared to any time in the past so I'm glad to be here where i am for the most part I guess. Rock on Britain  from me.
Frankly, this is one of the long term legacies of the Thatcherite rule.
Thatcher lacked compassion and didn't care about who suffered as a result of her actions.
In more recent times Labour have been a massive let down.
I don't know what to do with my vote anymore - Labour have failed us but the Tories under Cameron are as bad as they ever were.
I found myself deeply saddened and moved by the article about the pain and courage of the relatives of the street crime victims.
However though not in this case on many other occasions The Sun itself has often used sensationalism and lies to boost its circulation.
