What I'm asking is prompted by seeing that 'the Omen' is on T.V at midnight tonight BBC1. This happens to be probably the most horrifying film to me of all time. I know its tame as regards gore and stuff but it just scares the living sh*t out of me.
I think having been very much an active member of a church group never helped with my fear of this film lol but whatever it is there is a primeval fear of it still.
Is there a specific horror film that 'horrifies' you
Got to be the Exorcist starring Linda Blair.
Scared the shit out of me when I first saw it. confused
cant think of one...cos i havent seen that many....but i think on the classics it was the music tht scared the bejasus out of u more than anything.....something sadly lacking in todays gore fests, which just seem to consist of modern hits or just generic loud 'make u jump' music
i mean i still know the tune from the original amityville horror, the excorcist and omen...and hearing them makes the hairs on my neck stand up on end (bit like the jaws music)
who can remember the music from recent horror flicks like saw, the ring etc....cos it just aint the same is it???
I cant watch the chuckie films!!
Carrie ...... where the hand shoots out at the end

I'm not a fan of horror movies. I even had the Exorcist on dvd here for 3 years and never watched it. Gave it to the ex hubby when he left :scared:
The original Nosferatu is still one of the creepiest films I've ever seen
The Thing

I'm with Woohoo on this one, The Exorcist.
Wobbly view, fades back through time...
It's 1974, a reasonably naive 14 year old decides to go to the local flea-pit to see a new film by William Friedkin, it's getting banned all over the place so the kid wants to see it whilst he has a chance.
Outside the cinema are a load of bible-bashers handing out gestetnered copies of the scriptures. By the time the kid gets inside he's already freaked. Halfway through the film his bottle goes, eyes closed listens to the sounds, opens eyes, once, see head turning 360 degrees, shuts them again, tries to open them again, big spurt of green puke... shuts eyes for longer this time, opens them again to see priest going arse over tit down a flight of stairs.
Cut to walking out of the cinema, fucking bible-bashers are there still handing out those sodding flyers.
Two days before I got a decent night's sleep.
20 years before I had the bottle to watch the film in its entirety!
Phew! redface

Try a film called 'Funny Games'.
It has recently been remade but the original is quite chilling. Its about a pair of psychos who go about killing rich holidaymakers in a remote resort.
Different but the implications are very real.

you must have been really scared to be up at
Horror films just don't scare me, I'm afraid. Or not.
I wish they did though! I miss not getting scared. I went to Fright Night with my martial arts club a couple of years ago. We went into the mazes in groups....they were brilliantly done, and I can see why they should be scary- and I wanted, really, really wanted to get scared.
First maze- some of the younger black belts put their heads through the door- screamed & left. Not scared.
Second maze- I'm at the back because it's there you get "picked on" by the actors. I've got my hands on our instructors shoulders-he's 6'4, arms get tired, so I put them on his waist instead- he jumped like a little girl....
Third maze- by this time, all the kids refused to go in a group unless I was there- I ended up doing a conga! lol
The original B/W version of The Haunting.
I love horror films and a particularly chilling one i saw recently was "Wolf Creek" - ooooh its scary!! Made even more scary cos my partner can do a brill impression of the main nasty guy!!
Watched "Hostel II" last night and found that rather good too and almost believable - it kinda could happen.
I love all the "Saw" films - sometimes even watch one of them during the day when im ironing!! Sick, me?? Never!!
Suze xx
Have to confess tho that ive never seen "The Exorcist"- was convinced many years ago when i got stretch marks on my boobs as they were growing, that Satan was taking over my body!! Well i was only about 12!
