I'm confused about Kitkat - Kate is female (I think I'm on safe ground there) and is Kat, but Kit is a bloke, no a woman, so Kate is Kit, and Kat is a bloke? And both post under the nic Kitkat, just to make it less confusing? I think I'll just take a break......

Definately in the cafe for the humour, banter and drivel. The other areas of the site serve other needs so the cafe is a place to relax in and find a laugh in the threads and posts. Of course there are serious issues raised and debates had and yes I do read them, never get involved because in all honesty, I have never felt passionately enough about any one particular thing.
The place takes the occasional knock and gets a bit bumpy now and then, but for the most part I let it sail past, cos I know there is gonna be another thread along that has some warmth and humour in it.
It's still an addictive place with some bloody cracking characters out there, , I've met a few and hope to meet a few more and if another freind or an acquantance comes from that then it's another bonus.......

The CafÃ© gives me somewhere to unwind. There's no other place I've found (either physical or virtual) where such a diverse and tolerant bunch of people get together. No subject is (apart from those that I have absolutely no interest in) and a discussion is guaranteed to attract views and opinions that I would never have been exposed to before. I'm an adult and I enjoy having adult discussions with like-minded people.
And despite previous posts to the contrary, I've not seen any sign of a clique or "munch-bunch" mentality. I've always been welcomed with open arms (or legs Polo Lady :smile and only been or a couple of times
Bottom line - I'm addicted!

With the exception that I don't have a Mrs Musketeer, (there has been one for 29 years, but now at her choice for a limited period only), your thoughts are more or less exactly the same as mine. It would be nice to think there was a like minded person out there for the forming of some future relationship, but I don't come for sex in any direct sense, more for the open discussion and free thinking, my kind of gene pool.

Yep. To be able to express myself as well as Agricola would not perhaps make my life complete, but it would come closer. I love good writing wherever it is to be found and his examples are a pleasure every time. Whatever he has to say is always worth reading for the delivery as well as the message.

For me, these days, it's mainly about being impressed. I think some of you might recognise what I'm about to say, and I have always wished that I could be more like the posters I'm about to describe, I wish I was among their number, but I'm not and that's that really... but enough about my shortcomings eh! smile

OK, for me this place is at it's best when I read a post that makes me feel better about myself. You know the ones I mean. The ones that make you rise above the norm, make you feel more intelligent, more wise, more full, believe once again that humanity can be trusted. I say none of this lightly, I bloody mean it! When I read a post written by someone who is not saying look at me. They are not saying that they know they are above everyone else in an oh so subtle but all the same bloody obvious way. These people write posts that make ME feel better. They make others on here feel better. You know when you read a book or watch a film and come out feeling a better person YOURSELF? Well, these are the ones I am on about. I'm not about to start a list of names... however, I think we can safely say that as exit posts go, this one will take some beating. Please tell me someone knows what I'm on about here.
OK, back to being trivial, but looking forward to when my spirits are raised by one of you special people on here. You are the ones that make it worthwhile as far as I'm concerned.

it might not be understood by all, cos it's only a website isn't it, but some of the deepest, most open, most sincere friendships i've made, have been made here. i do bollox mainly on the forum, but what goes on in pm is a world away from bollox. we share deeply meaningful things, support eachother, i hope cos we understand exactly where eachother is. that in my experience is a rare gift.
i love the insane humour, the banter, the piss taking. it's guaranteed to lift my mood.
and i love the depth, and the honesty, cos i've learned some valuable things about myself, sharing in others experiences. and yep sometimes i'm all too cynical about people, and this place is genuinely refreshing. what an eye-opener it's been.
if you put a price on SH, well i couldn't afford it! ;)

I come to this site because of the friendships I have found here amongst a diversity of people. Though I do 'swing' the sex is of lesser importance than the actual sense of being a part of a community of broadminded and tolerant folk. I love the intelligence, the wit, the seriousness, the sense of adventure, the compassion and the sillyness of the people who post here. I am grateful for the opportunity that SH has offered to meet with others, people who I would never have met otherwise, those with whom I have only shared moments of pleasure or those with whom I have gone on to develop more important friendships.
I continue to visit the site because I have got to know a lot of you IRL and therefore you have become a part of mine. This site is the nexus that brings us all together to share our thoughts and feelings on whatever subject and allows us to communicate. It is for these reasons and and the hope of meeting new people and making new friends that I come here.

couldn't agree more....come here to chat to friends....but seems we ain't allowed to do that anymore...have to talk swinging or sex or you locked and out......I like to have fun..but seems that is being stiffled these days.

Well I like it here. I've made lots of real life friends, and I love the humour and banter that goes on. I don't always join in, but it makes me smile from afar. I love the open-mindedness and tolerance (usually!) and the fact that us girls can actually admit to having sex, enjoying it, and having had more than 2 or 3 partners - that's not something I can freely admit to in my general life (and yes, it IS far more than 2 or 3 lol)
I've met some fantastic people, found love, found what I'm sure will be lasting friendships and may even find more people that I want to play with in the future.
Recently there has been far more negativity about the site and mods/admin, but you can't please all of the people all of the time. I feel that on the whole this is a great place to be and I don't intend to leave at any time in the near future.

Bumping this up becuase not only am I a fan of bumping up old threads ( rolleyes

), but I am also fast becoming a fan of Wilma's threads. Makes me kind of wish I had joined sooner!
Anway - since this was posted in December last year we have had a lot of new people join and I thought it would be nice to read their comments.

I enjoy coming into the cafe as it gives me the chance to get to know peoples personalities from what they post. From serious threads :notes: to the funny stuff :giggle: .

This is probably going to echo a lot of posts, but I like coming to the cafe to chill.
I like looking through the old threads and having a good giggle at some of the insanity that is written, participating in the polls and making new friends.
I have been a member of the site for about a year, but only really used to frequent the chatroom (not realising I had to register seperately for the froum-doh!), but now I am popping in daily to get a quick 'fix' of the humour and personalities that can't quite be found in other forums etc
Myself and Mr Minx have now plucked up the courage to attend our first party (Winchester) and I have to say that we can't wait. Judging from all the positive feedback in these threads it should be our first of many !
