Do you really believe in Love at First Sight?

Surely the people who say it can't happen can only say that because it hasn't happened to THEM. And to say categorically it cant happen to anyone would be calling some who have experienced it liars suirel?
I was merely suggesting it can't happen to me.

I believe in lust. I'm sure love at first sight happens for some people - I can't say I have ever really loved anyone in my life (besides family etc) think I'm far to reserved and aloof for that. Tho, I have cared deeply for others at certain points in my life. I'm probably better at caring...
Think I'll stick to lust tho....less complicated and easier to deal with and you don't have to let anyone in.
I thought Danne was gorgeous and had a wonderful smile when I first saw her.....I thought I was lucky to even know her.......now we live together and are so in love....am sure I knew straight away and hoped she did smilexxxx

Love at first sight.........Yes absolutely and its beautiful.
I believe you can meet someone and know instantly that they are the one that you know you are going to spend the rest of your life with.
It is an overwhelming kind of feeling, it isn’t until you are older that you realise it isn’t love, unless it happens it is very hard to explain, it is just knowing with an intense feeling that it will happen.
It happened to me aged 13 just took him a couple of years to see it himself, we have been together 30 years this years, married for 22

It is a lust feeling too!
But I have had a lust feeling for the guys we have met, so it is more that just lust!
But knowing what love is now, it is so different from just saying lust or love at first sight, it is more than that.
I saw Prof. Winston’s programme about the mind and relationships recently, and apparently smell have a big factor involved too, was very fascinating to watch and very believable too.
Made total sense to me! wink
im not sure on this one, i believe like many others you have a knowing of some kind at first site, but maybe that is lust, all i know is im happily in love and it was something that happened very quickly between the two of us.

A week after meeting Mr Joy I told someone that I would marry him I was only young at the time (need to get that in incase anyone is good at math)and this year we celebrate 23 yrs married. So I think it does happen

I met someone and said the same thing within a week. We split up about 6 weeks later wink
I used to believe in love at first sight, now I'm afraid I'd put it down to lust.
Cynical? Moi?? You betcha cool

I didn't think the old 'Love at first sight' was true...
Until I met Nix - I poo poo'd the idea - yet one meet and we were both madly in lust then love within the space of 3 weeks...and still are.
Did you experience it as a 2-sided or one sided thing?
Was it really lust or love?

Ah you old softie!
I think you hit it on the head...it's usually lust then love. I appreciate that there are exceptions...people who meet and marry within days/weeks and are together after 30+ years, but that's not the norm.

Looking in the mirror doesn't count! lol

I don't know about love at first sight, but I defo think there's an attraction and 'knowing' at first sight. Love, in my opinion is a lot of things, it's months of trust and friendship, I honestly think to fall in true love takes time.
I firmly believe you can meet someone and instantly know if you're going to enjoy being with them, be attracted and in lust with them, there's sometimes an 'aura' around that person and you just feel something good is going to happen.
That's my take on it anyway lol

Mine to thanks for putting it so well smile
"Do you belive in love at first sight?"
"I'm certain that it happens all the tii-ii-iime, yeah".
There are so many kinds of love.
I beleive that some are instant - the lustful kind or a parent for a new baby (although that is sometimes not as instant as we are lead to expect).
Those often develop into the deeper kind. It may even slow burn from nothing to the deep kind without the lust or the dewy-eyed baby adoration.
But any is good, even lost love. And although we may mourn the loss of a love we should never regret having experienced it.
Short answer - No - I believe in lust at first sight.
I used to believe in it not so sure now
