how about getting the rest of the site working first..????? ie. the chat rooms..i still cant log on properly..and yes i have checked software versions etc.....it slow.!! it kicks people, it stalls, in general its unreliable, so why pay for extras untill the site is working as standard.....

without these so called free members who are paying nothing this site would not have been worth having, as there would have been no members here.

the extras lounge is for those who have paid for the extras membership.
the stealth cammimg idea was reviewed and the desision was taken to remove that aspect, rightly so. Im sure most members are pleased that this happened as alot of people felt more comfortable with gooing on cam again.

i was mearly saying those who moan about the site not being what they wanted and expect more for their money were aware of what they were getting when they paid their membership.
the so called free members is not actually what some of us are , we are valued members who were given premier membership as part of the take over deal. much like when the building societies changed to banks and the members got a payout lol
i think the old members do support the site, and time will tell when the membership is due for renewal if we all decide to stay or leave. Ther are some old members who are mods and ops that have no payment for helping the site run smoothely.

I think u can create rooms in there like on the normal servers but no one goes in there so none get created.

as you say.. the extra's lounge is empty... why.... because more likely than not they are mingling with and perving at the free members....
is it the free members fault that the extra's lounge is empty... no!!!
but maybe this has made people realise how important the free members are to the site... because as fem put before "without the free members, the site would not nearly be worth as much to the owners as it is"
you want the site to move on..... good for you.... but be careful of what you wish for because some of the faces you look forward to talking to and maybe meeting,whether it is on the forum,the chatrooms, or the ad just may not be here..... then tell me who loses in the long run???

What is the point of having special events to artifically populate the extras lounge when people have nothing in common other than they've paid extra???

My point is if SH needs more revenue i could start charging the free members.

well maybe that is where the owners have to think about it more.... make it so attractive that you start making people think.... "yes I ought to take it up" because for me at this point in time it isn't (sorry 4T's)... maybe something like an extra's socials/events (just thinking out loud)
The problem with the charging solution when it comes to it, I still think you may generate some revenue... but you will lose a lot of genuine members.... is that really worth the trade off? are you going to tempt more people in at the rate that you are now if a lot of the people who contribute to the forums and the chatrooms are gone???.........would you kill the golden goose so to speak???
Two other things to bear in minds......
1) Some people won't pay (out of principle - just as an off my head example, give me a reason why should i pay when I know there are other free sites out there)
would it be a loss to the site if some of these people went..... yes
2) Some people can't pay (lack of debit/credit cards for example)

As I see it, all the things that have been done to this site since the takeover (please don’t lambaste me guys ok? I know that there are a lot of changes people didn’t like etc. but at the end of the day, apart from getting dark, its happened)
These changes cost money, and lots of it, in fact if you take staffing and bandwidth costs into account, I would imagine, a bloody fortune. :shock:
It is now a commercial venture who’s one and only aim has, by its very nature, to be profit. Now don’t get me wrong, I have no inside information on the financial status of SH plc, but I do know a bit about business, in fact I know quite a lot about business (did a home study course from the university of Asabergainia, cost me 99p and a postage stamp
) and I would be very surprised if this venture is anywhere close to showing a profit yet.
If it is, well done guys :thumbup: , but somehow I doubt it. So how long, as a business are you prepared to go on making improvements without the return? Not long I would say, so what’s your next move? Well if your were ruthless enough, that’s easy, wind up the fees, set separate charges for the use of all and any of the separate areas of the site :scared: and make all the people who made this site possible in the first place pay and renege on your promise, easy peasy lemon squeezy.

No, instead what they have done is introduced some entirely voluntary “Extras†that no-one is forced into buying, no ones twisting anyone’s arm here, its just like Dixon’s, you see it on the shelf, you either want it or you don’t. if you do, you buy it, and just like Dixons, if once you get it home and you decide that actually, the special features were not quite what you though, you take it up with the management. You don’t go storming into the department store and start arguing with the other customers.
