when i was a kid i went to dorset for a week and remember the river piddle.

There is a Thai restauraunt in Stoke-on-Trent, a couple of doors down from the Regent Theatre, it's called Ria, the food there is good, but the ventilation ain't great so it can get a bit smokey there sometimes.
