My thoughts on these type of threads and the GFZ are well known, can't abide em, but I can see that folk get a bit of fun out of them, hence I don't even bother having a peek through the crack in the door.

Me & you both DaveJ - althoug I do like to have a peek every now & then, but thats because I'm a nosey bleeda lol

On a practical point though I think it's a thread that needs quite a few members on line for it to work and that's probably why there weren't many posts when it opened early today.

Personally I thought the bar a was a good thing, easy to pop into if you were so inclined, easy to ignore if you werent.
If if it was locked because people were complaining, fair enough, if it was locked because a mod found it tedious, then it wasnt.

and as a long standing member you will have noticed all the other people who are certified that DONT use the GFZ and you will have also noticed the threads about being certified!!!

I agree.
I think if the certification thing was limited then it would become clicky.
It was orignally brought up in a p*** take thread and has remained as such.
Only last week Sarah did a "who needs certifying thread" and this was open to all and many newer members were certified for completed silly things.
When it's done in this way it actually has the effect of drawing people into the community IMHO

i no im gona regret writing this in the morning but hay o if i get flamed i get flamed!!!!
this morning when i put this thread on it was because i was confused as to why it had be locked and because i have never thought that people would have a problem with a GFZ/BAR thread or think that people would be so obsessed with post counts, these things had never crossed my mind. to me its some light hearted fun some like to post in it some don't.
but as the day has gone on there as been some for and against views that i expected (this the bit where you all flame me saying if you put up a thread then don't expect all views to match yours and don't take a boo when you hear something you don't like i promise i will stand up, bend over and take my flogging when I'm done)
but I'm sat here now and some of the comments have got to me in the sense of is this the place i thought it was, i feel disappointed. the views of, if ye post shit loads in one thread your not an active member, or been clicky and cant join in, or certification puts people off, personally i think is bull and just look at the people that have said its helped them greatly. it almosts feels like the attitude is, the GFZ is for the little kids that are too thick or after the full purple pole like its a bloody gold medal and us proper members do the real posting in the real threads. for the first time ever I'm not getting the pleasure out of it like i normally do i feel let down with peoples attitude and the way things have always got to be criticized because they don't like or agree with it. i dont want to be here and im not getting the pleasure out of the GFZ like i normally do so im gonna log off and hopefully this is just me in one of my girl moods and ill be fine in the morning

ive popped into the bar on a few occasions but am trying to stay out of there at the moment as i like a drink a little too much! but really cant see the problem, its one thread & as davej said he doesnt even pop in there smile

if you dont like it dont click it! there are a lot of people who do like it though so whats the problem dunno

as far as i see it people have a laugh & drink in there, others can then see what the poster's sense of humour etc & therefore can also make up their minds if they would get on in the real world :)
i also see it as a place to go when you dont really want to add to or start a new thread just for the sake of starting one & it keeps the forum moving when not many people are posting & all has been said that you have to say on a serious thread biggrin

anyway thats my oppinion anyway :D

And no, we didnt think it was a flounce.
I have already said, I like te GFZ and feel it can be a bloody good laugh, I also agree that it is better if it is kept to the weekends and not left open all through the week (if we want to do something similar during the week, we can go into the chat room and do it in there).
Also just a thought but if people feel that others are only going into th GFZ to get their post count up, then why dont we just 'Delete' the GFZ after each weekend, that way, no one's post count is increased by it.
As for cliques, I agree that it could look a little that way to some of the newer member BUT the one thing I have noticed is that during the period that the GFZ is open, if any new member posts something in the Cafe they are invited into the GFZ. I have also noticed that if the person does pluck up the courage to come in, then someone always acknowledgdes them straight away and makes them feel welcome.
So, we are all entitled to our views, all of us wont agree on anything that is put in place and at the end of the day, I thought we all came on here to have fun, chat with our mates, and meet new people, or is that being a bit too simplistic confused
