The current popular threads just aren't appealing to enough to read through several pages before making my response.

yes I have been warned off people....
once by a couple who wanted to meet me and didn't like me talking to a single man... they told me things about him to deter me from talking to him.
the other time by a couple about another couple.
I didn't listen to either of them... I make my own mind up about people.

That is good. However, I wasn't thinking of being "warned off" exactly .... Like "watch out, he's really pushy/indiscreet/whatever" .. more along the lines of "hands off, he's mine!"

So, unless two people are a couple (swinging or otherwise) surely they have no right to say hands off? So what do you do then? Risk beinga total bitch and going for it anyway, or back off 'cos it's too much hassle? Do you tell the person whose you've been told to stay away from?

Well, for example, if someone had warned you off from us as a couple, personally I would want to know, because (and I'm not being big headed) we are a nice couple who don't have any grievances against anyone. We have fallen out with a couple before but sorted out our differences and everything is fine now.
Most things can be rectified, but to go bad-mouthing someone else just to be petty is really down right rude. If you have good justification then all well and good.

This is interesting... when I first found the sites I was given a load of advice from various people and I heard bits and pieces about people here and there. That's fine, I don't mind listening to people's opinions on folks but I always make up my own mind, that's what it's there for!
I think people are all so different and not everyone will like everyone so I feel it's important not to judge others through someone elses eyes. I'd hate for someone to be "warned off" as such for whatever reason... I decide what goes on in my life and that won't change.
