Missy :-
I am sure that if they retired before 1997 the are not entitled to permanent residence in this country.
I think the link I put up on page one explains it much better than I ca cos it was wrote by a civil serpant.

Its great news.
I bet this shit Government are already preparing their mega expensive lawyers to appeal. What a disgusting bunch they are.
Of all the things that have made me ashamed to be british, this is it.
It's a complete disgrace!.

Wow, so you didn't want the Gurkhas to have that right then ?
They won "part" of the case yesterday in the High Court, but the fight still goes on.
If you're really interested see (and sign) here:

During my time I came across them, was great fun chasing them across "the common" at night. Even on an exercise they make a tenacious enemy lol
And manners? Was at a training depot at the same time as some of them - it was lovely to be treated like a lady. Doors held open by them etc, etc - manners cost a man nowt.
I for one hope that "all" of them win the right to stay here.
Ive been misunderstood, I want the gurkas to stay.
May I bump this up again, and hope it is for the final time.
Lets hope this, the Third reading, will put an end to this battle and let justice prevail >>>>>>

In Arduis Fidelis.
Oh goody. Where are the petitions for the Kings African Rifles, British Indian Army, British Caribean soldiers, Polish Fighter pilots that kept the Germans away in the Battle of Britain?
These are just a few people that have kept this country free. They fought for and died for our freedom, yet they are not allowed to live here. Their sons and daughters, grandsons and grandaughters are now applying for citizenship of this free country. The only reason this country is free is because their fathers and grandfathers fought and died for this country, and not one of them carried a British passport. Yet even on this thread I have seen comments about they are not entitled to a passport as the Gurka is. Bollox. They all fought for this country and should have been entitled to live here as a citizen in my eyes.
