... And that Fad diets (assuming this ones a fad too)have the reverse effect long term.. Yes you lose some weight to start with but as soon as you eat anything even near normal again your body stores the excess it doesn't need any more...

Most 'diets' force the body into 'starvation mode'
The body will be in shock due to lack of basic nutrients that it needs to rebuild & repair itself.
The body now used to running on low grade fuel (The Diet) will then try to hoard as much as possible in preparation in case of another 'starvation mode' situation...
Hence the immediate weight gain over & above the starting weight! sad
When I taught aerobics the number one question I was asked is what is the best diet.
My reply...
Change your lifestyle...
It took a lifestyle to end up with your body so it will take a lifestyle to change it.
Do it right in the beginning & you will do it once & final!

Well thats what I was going to say.. or even meant to say but you have the words to say it so much better.
Sadly I can't pretend to be an expert.. i wish i were. The only thing I can offer as suggested was that diets don't work.. changing lots of things do.
I thought I said that before red.. but got a catty meow as It wasn't about the specific post in question.. but then again how many replies were lol..
lol
dont worry about diets, given the way this countries going just hang on in there & the government (which ever one) will soon find enough ways to tax you so much you wont be able to afford food. problem solved
amazing, isnt it? no matter the size, shape and percieved beauty, its rare that any of us women are happy with our bodies.
i might be going off topic a bit here (please bear with me, i think i may have tonsilits induced psychosis) but i recently read a post by naughtynymphos that struck a chord with me, on the boobs thread. i wont quote it but i think the basic message was - the notion that somone can be willing to play with a person who appears to be "below" the "standards" that they set for themselves in terms of thier body shape, and how that balances up? also that for every woman who has a problem with her body there is another woman who beleives she is bigger, smaller, wonkier or wider than her.... thinking "ungrateful cow" lol
personally i dont believe you are fat and need to diet kate, but i do believe that if you feel uncomfortable then you have the right to do something about it. i also believe tho, at your size, that can be done in a sensible and healthy way rather than some maple syrup fad rolleyes for an actual fat person, such as me, its not quite as easy as that, having ten stone to lose is no easy journey.
i know you wanted this thread to be about that particular diet rather than comments personal to you but i hope youre not offended. its certainly not my intention. i just thought you would welcome the input from an actual fat person!
in saying all that im by no means fat and happy, ive struggled long term with my weight as you know. but i also know that you do not look at me and instantly think "fat". ive managed to lose 3 stone this year and im feeling happier and healthier than ever.....however, i have alot to lose, probably a whole you  and if i was invited to be a bridesmaid this year then i would still be a fat one, and its not all that bad dunno
good luck with whatever method you choose to loose weight and im sure it will only increase your confidence and health, as we already know youre lovely, inside and out kiss
For those who just can not give up their food. Here is a diet, you can eat as much as you like, anything you like, but no drink. Water is needed as part of the process to lay down fat. Water is given up as fat is burned.
So eat as much as you like but no fluid.
Warning Side effects can include aggravation of existing medical conditions,
formation of kidney and bladder stones, dry skin, rashes, in hot whether heat exhaustion and if taken to excess death.
Back to Maple Syrup ....
My Canadian relatives use gallons of it - especially on waffles for breakfast .. one of the treats when they come here to visit is that they always pack a litre or two
Personally I love Maple Brazils -- Brazil nuts coated in fondant sugar that has been flavoured by maple syrup
PK if you lose any more weight you'll have to watch you don't fall down the cracks in the pavement. You look beautiful as you are -- stop worrying and enjoy life
grrrr....I've just written a long reply to this and the blonde in me forgot to copy and paste it before submiting so here's version 2 biggrin

yeah, I've been thinking about this and I guess there are very few women that are entirely happy with the bodies they've been given. I'm sure even supermodels have things that they dislike about there bodies, vain lot aren't we :lol2:

I think I saw that post too and whilst I can see where you are coming from, that implies to me that I want to change to look like a clone of what I find attractive when in actual fact I find women of all shapes and sizes attractive, and thinking about it I probably find women who are larger than me more attractive than those who are smaller than me. Beauty to me is about more than just the packaging, a lot more. I really hope that no one felt that I patronising those who are larger than me as that was never my aim. To me that's almost like saying that if I dyed my hair brown it would be because I thought blondes were unattractive......if that makes sense.

yes, this is more about me being comfortable about me in my own skin than about how I view other people. Of course you're right (as usual smile) about this diet and of course the sensible solution is the eat more healthily and excersise more route, but I got a bit carried away with the idea of being uber skinny in 2 weeks time without thinking it through properly first. But thanks to those that have replied to this thread I have had a more sensible re-think.

Not offended at all hun, and always enjoy reading your posts, thanks for then imput, it's always good to try to view things from the other side of the coin.

Well done you, really pleased for you and hope you manage to continue in your success, I really respect people like you who have the will power to achieve something like that, and really glad that it's making you feel better.
