hya can anyone email me if u have or can help me about snakes ty this is a real question not a joke
i will hun, fire away
well we lost one snake so bought new one then about half hour ago when takign the rubbish out the other one wa s on step alive we have fed n want to know shall we wait before we put in with other one
yes because the one thats been loose could have picked up mites, so you need another set up to house the other snake in untul you see if the snake thats been loose is all clear, the last thing you need is 2 snakes with mites.
...its generally not a good idea to house them together anyway as they may be different temperaments, and end up fighting, or you may end up with eggs!!
what sort of snakes are they?
yu are great ty so much well eggs is great idea and we hav ethe one in a box with clear lid with hair holes and its warm so we will keep eye on it then go from there monther has another tank we can use do u keep snakes can i ask

Not that long, no. Sweet asked about housing it with the other snake though.
best thing to do is to put it in a tank with nothing else, just white paper or white kitchen roll.
leave in a warm place for a while and if there are any mites you should see them like black dots on the paper, if this happens then you need to get a mite treatment from the vets.
If not check over the escapee for ticks, these look like little ticky type beetly type things that latch on and suck the blood of the snake. If you see any of these they need to be pinched off or soaked off.
If alls clear, then introduce the snakes in a neutral environment (like a plastic crate) and watch how they interact with each other, keep a close eye for any signs of agression.
Once they seem ok put them both back into the viv, and keep a close eye on how they are with each other for a few days, to make sure that they dont fight.
As long as they are 2 females, or a male and female (not two males as they will fight) and more or less the same size, and they get on together, there should be no probs. If they dont seem to be getting on , you will have to make another set up with heat mat, light etc for the other to live in.
One thing you must do is feed them separately, as a fight that may ensue over the mouse, may end up in a dead snake.
Just get one of those plastic crates with a locking lid and feed one in there and one in the viv, then put them back together once the food has gone down to around half way down their body.
As long as you keep an eye on them regularly for any signs of aggression or injury.

Both our vet. and the man who keeps/sells snakes told us that if one went more than three months we should be worried.

Don't think so Mrs B, although the fact that me - a non snake owner - is finding this thread oddly fascinating probably puts me somewhere on the spectrum of anorak-ness!! lol

I used to be really frightened but having touched a snake when we were looking for gecko's, I'm surprised that I didn't have too much of a problem with them.
Not too sure I'd be happy keeping one in the house though confused
