How do you cope with getting older?

I know I've got a lot of other stuff going on, (getting made redundant, and losing a good friend)but, at 42, my body seems to be going downhill at a freakishly quick pace.
My boobs are getting scarily soft, while my upper arms are ballooning up
I have to make sure I don't need a wee if I'm planning to cough or sneeze in the next half hour
I'm a selfish sod, I know, because health-wise I'm ok - but the worst aspect is that I don't feel attractive any more.

I just consider myself lucky that I'm still alive. Far better than the alternative, regardless of the wobbly bits. biggrin
My body's been ravaged by childbirth (x4) had a scrape with cancer, and put up with weight gain & loss. Now time is starting to take it's toll too.
I spotted my first grey hair at the ripe old age of 26, and now have to touch up every 3/4 weeks.
I find the best way to cope is to only ever look in the mirror through an alcohol induced haze wink
Other than that, stop being a dozy bint- I'm bloody certain you're still attractive. Just because some people have ceased to notice you, doesn't mean no-one does! kiss
Eventually your memory will start to fail and you'll forget you were ever young.
Unless you have daughters, in which case they will delight in telling you how old you look.
Cherry my sweet if when looking in my mirror the reflection looking back was as fit as you....I would be a happy woman smile
I know I have grey hairs on my head so I dye it. I know I have grey hairs..ahem...elsewhere so I shave em off. I get tired quickly so I sleep longer. I have wobbly bits...but I just look at Stormy and his wobble more than mine so I feel better
So thats how I cope. Most of the time. The rest of the time I just  xxx

All quite normal.. just a blip in life, one min you feel great next like crap.. the thing is just ask any 25 year old the same questions your asking and they will mostly answer the same.. No one can do anything about getting old eh.. the trick is to just accept as best we can and make the most of the benifits we gain not what we loose.... laugh more.. be happy and not get bogged down thinking the worst lol...
I have yet to meet a real woman who thinks she is attractive anyway... Not one so far lol... Attractive is being more than a body anyway.. come on you know its true lol... great body but a miserable git is far worse than a good body and a great person inside it surely...
Ahh well thats my take on it... and so what if someone doesn't fancy you lol... someone else will!! Seems to have worked for us and were a tad older than you lol.. lol kiss

At my age, with difficulty :!:
Plim confused redface
You've heard they saying 'you're only as old as the man/women you're feeling'? let me know if you fancy feeling a few years younger :rascal:
Thanks Meaty, I thought you were older than me - must be the avatar lol

a beer in the bath before you have to get ready works wonders, so i'm told. ;)
Cherry, i finally got the holiday snaps from last year from gem recently. i can't bring meself to look at 'em again, cos the difference a year makes is truly alarming at the minute. i'm actually looking forward to the grey hairs, in the hope it adds a certain distinguisedness to the look? confused
how do i cope? i just buy shedloads of male grooming products, and spend longer in the bathroom than is generally necessary for a bloke. ;)
neil x x x ;)
COPE? I don't cope - I ignore! Seems the best bet as age encroaches and demoralises.
Remember the programme 'Due South'? My body took it as an instruction.

:P
I am happy to be alive.....
I came too close to a bullet when i lived in new york, in fact it scraped an eyebow, and it changed me from being a cocky SOB into the person, I believe I am today..
I know we all have bad days..... me as much as anyone, hence when i haven't been round as much at the moment..... but then I figure that life is just a trial we keep on passing.........
and being that close to the alternative... everyday is a blessing.....

In the last year my grey bits have grown so fast it scared the bejesus out of me. But I will not dye them as its a part of me, what you see is what you get. With regards to you I have seen and I want. your personality far out ways anything else

How do you get your heads around getting older?

I was told by someone recently that im starting to get little wrinkles around my eyes
I nearly had a heart attack, I dont want to get old confused In my mind I still feel quite young and I get a shock when the person looking back at me in the mirror does'nt look anything like it should :?
So, I dont look very often sad
Louise xx
I love getting older.
Im now enjoying seeing my son grow into an independent person with his own home, partner and life.
After many sad times in my life, Im now enjoying sharing the rest of my days (!) with the man of my dreams.
Have all the time in the world to play, if and when we want to.
I used to hate my boobs being big, because my ex partner loved small boobs. (which I had before childbirth) Mr M adores huge boobs, so I now feel fantastic!!!!
I love being older......pass me the horlicks....... biggrin
In truth, Cherry, I have no idea because I feel exactly the same. Then I feel guilty for letting something as banal as not feeling attractive get me down when other people have so much more to cope with and do a far better job, than I.
But we're all in the same boat, 'time stands still for no man (or woman)', and as for gravity, I've taken to extended head stands in the hope that its effects will reverse themselves, so far the only results are lightheadedness and a stiff neck but I'm not giving up.

10 years of denial
10 years of anguished acceptance
However many you've got left saying 'I don't give a monkey's.....'
wink
My God girl - if you're fretting - I resign!!
