... to pluck up the courage redface

to start posting on the Forum? Or was this something you did straight away when you joined?
Just looking back at some of my posts and it made me think. I joined the site in June 2006 but it was January 2007 before I posted in the Cafe section. Yes I had posted on a social related thread in LMU before that, but it took till the January to make my first tentative steps into the Cafe banter...
Think I was a bit shy! :shock: Funny, cos I had met a few people by then and that was less scary!! I wasn't really familiar either with net forums, etiquette etc. Seems daft now!
So, did you jump right in? Did you read for a while before joining in?

I think I jumped straight in with both feet, if I remember rightly.
If I mooched around without posting, chances are I'd have bottled it & never plucked up the courage! confused

I think I posted a hello thread on the day that I actually joined the site but for a while before I'd been reading the forums etc. until I decided to actually join up and post smile

I think I made a numpty newbie kind of post a day or two after we joined.....but then was too scared to post again until 2 months later, when I thought I would venture deeper into the dark underworld that is the Cafe.....
I tell ya, 'they' must have slipped summat in my drink, because I have been here ever since and I cant get away :shock:
Once youre hooked thats it.....you just cant quite leave it alone!

Jumped straight in me. Made some daft comments - learnt quickly and then had a blast.

I really can't see the problem.

There is nothing to be nervous about - it ain't gonna affect yer pension now is it?

I started posting straight away, but wasn't a very prolific poster in the first couple of months. Began to make up for that after about four months when I started going to munches and socials.

3 days, (but was on the old style photo ads for ages, I saw the forum as a big scary place) and I wanted a 3some , some things just never change!!

Same here, was on the Ads for a while, found the forums and started at the bottom of the list (dogging section) and made my way tentatively up the list till I found a comfy spot in the Cafe and never looked back lol

Agree with Sarah, some things never change :twisted:

I remember the forum when it was just a few hundred members, I must have first seen it about early 2003 I think and I did post then from the first day i discovered it under a different name so, gulp, I guess I actually am an SH veteran lol

A year for me, until Heather wave

:rose: and Mark :wave: dragged me out of the closet :giggle: Heather actually started a welcome thread as she spotted me lurking the same time every night.
At the time I was the longest lurker of the forums, it seemed a bit of a scary place. I did hang about the old style message boards before I joined this one. I joined under a few different names as I kept messing it up until I finally figured out what i was doing wrong and ended up with this name! Hence other members here know me by a different name on other sites.
I didnt even know about the ads section and others who used the ads didnt know about the forum always as you had different accounts/ID's for each one then.
The forum was small, extremely friendly and welcoming to everyone and a right giggle!!
Took me another 3 years to pluck up the courage to attend a social/munch.

That's a bit how I felt! That's also one of the reasons for starting this thread - I see loadsa folks lurking and obviously reading posts.... but not posting.

my first 6 months i only knew of the chatroom ,but when i posted my first thread it was blocked within seconds lol

I started in the chatrooms and the ads section. Probably took me a month or so to start on the forum and even then I never posted that often for a while biggrin
