It does bring up the issue of inconsistancy that I mentioned in another thread. If we were discussing a ban for instance, the thread would be immediately locked and the person bringing up the subjest would be told that they "wouldn`t want people discussing their private business"
So why is it ok to discuss who`s meeting who ....which I think makes a lot of members uncomfortable......but it`s not ok to discuss the reasons for bans ....which would nelp members to moderate their own behaviour ?

Quite how you've managed to link these two subjects together I don't know but there's clearly a chain of thought there somewhere, I just can't work it out.
I think if anybody here needs a rule book on how they should be moderating their swinging behaviour then they shouldn't even be doing it.

At the risk of disappearing into the ether,i commented because i could not believe it was considered ok to discuss openly in the forum what members who had not given their consent where doing.
Presumed consent is not are a number of things i feel comfortable talking about in the specific chatroom i use that i would be very unhappy to have all and sundry quoting in the forum.
i used the example of naming and shaming because i cannot see the difference, you are naming a member who cannot at that moment defend themselves.
And i did go through proper channels.

FACT
1. I did not name any member
2. You didn't just comment - you also insinuated that noladreams was giving me preferential treatment for some reason. Because I'm her 'boyfriend' if I read that right which is er... bollox. I'm married to a bloke ffs! She was commenting on the thread as a member and/or because she has specialist knowledge in that area concerned
3. Mods edit: No 'tit for tat' please
And don't PM me about it please, I'm not interested.
Settle everyone - the edge is looming.

question:
did you have a "moderators" hat on with your earlier comment Mal, or a "members" hat?
Because it changes the tone or implication of your post.

Another me, me, me post....

this one, for the record
this thread now appears to have gotten personal where there was really no nead. The threads direction had simply moved across (as some threads can tend to) in this particular case to 'descretion'.
let's face it, the thread now has a far more valid subject for potential discussion than it's original theme, and can/could raise quite a few points which members might like to consider when in open 'conversation'.

It doesn't make the slightest difference, as whatever 'hat' I say I was wearing, people who want to , will decide otherwise anyway.
And that is not a discussion I'm getting into.

Moderator AND site member. wink

the reason I ask was to CLARIFY, so that people would not have to decide, but would be INFORMED. Just a thought.

If you are not talking in a locked Chat room or not using PM I would be incredibly weary about what you say. Rightly or wrongly it can get repeated. Personally I would say if you dont want what you say repeated then use the PM or lock the room. Of course make sure you trust everyone in there or make sure they know what your saying is not to be repeated.
I missed all this as I dont open me me me threads any more.
What a pickle.
Yeah I think discretion is really really important. I will happily discuss some of my more bizarre sexual practices in chat rooms I would be horrified to discover a "Ben Shits in Handbags" thread on the forum as it becomes a more or less permanent retrievable record.
I too share concerns about the quality and motivation of some of the moderation but now work on the basis that we are all human and life's to short etc etc. However I do think well moderated forums are happy well populated forums and I am all in favour of that.
If anybody still in touch with Cherry would like to pass on my regards and hugs I would be grateful.
Do you lot never stop bickering? rolleyes

Ben I shall do just that for you...however, if you would like her email address in order to convey them yourself, I have her permission to pass it on to those who wish to stay in touch with her...just drop me a PM

some members' only active contribution to this Forum is when they choose to

Sorry. I have to jump in here for the sake of apostrophe correctness preservation.
In the quote here, Bloke has used the apostrophe correctly.
He is talking about members plural and their contributions.
In this case, the apostrophe is to show possession: the contribution belonging to (made by) those members (plural)
So therefore the apostrophe goes after the plural noun members'
(It has no need of an extra s as it is already plural.)
So the only quote from a mod is about apostrophes, interesting,so we can name and shame now?
since it seems we are allowed to qoute other members without there permission there are a few people i would like to bring up,the single men without a partner claiming to be couples, the guys with multiple profiles, the guy who tried to beat me up,
i take it i can mention them all?
Or do the mods only come out to defend there boyfriend and his mates?
its their not there jeeze i can't believe that wasn't picked up on :giggle:
