Is this the time to start the condom debate that results in personal attacks and 'holier than thou' attitudes?

NO
:P :P :P :P :P
It doesn't surprise me to be honest, everyone is quick to judge the young kids because they are normally targeted in STI stats but to be honest I think there are (and clearly there are) a lot of more mature people out there who think they're invincible.. the 'it won't happen to me' attitude.
The government ploughs so much into sexual health for young people (Every Child Matters etc) but maybe needs to return and readdress older people? Or maybe as adults we should know better? dunno
Doesn't make for good reading does?

Well here we go again with another so called study. May I quote this from the study?
" In total, 4,445 infections were detected in older people, with genital warts accounting for almost half of these diagnoses".
Now whilst that is a large ammount of people how many " older people " are having sex ffs? Once again the scaremongers amongst us have risen. lol They seem to pop up every now and again and we get the " holier than thou " issues. We are swingers and think we are used to the " holier than thou " brigade enough.
Our motto is...stay safe..stay in control. cool
obviously kent these are figures based on those that have been tested. There are many, many more that are simply not getting tested because they are invincible(as jaymar said)
If you were to ask Swingers who both use and don't use condoms you will have a very small minority who actually get tested. (that is not an invite to those who are about to declare that they get tested)

Surely though splendid if people thought they had any problems " down there " they would seek medical advice?
If they do not and then continue to have sexual liasions then that is well out of order. I would like to think the people that get tested feel there is a problem..that being the case that figure is very very low. For people who think there is something wrong....get tested straight away.

Forgive me for snippety snipping there Kent, but can I just correct you on one thing.... Chlamydia... shows no signs for many years, lies undetected.
It's the fastest growing STI to date because of it's 'silent' symptoms therefore no one would show any signs therefore in their own minds have nothing to worry about. Quite often this STI can get detected when a woman is having difficulty in conceiving. Men and women can carry this STI for 10 years without knowing.
Pee in the Pot! lol

Forgiven Jaymar.
If honest I dont know too much about that one.
The thing is you can meet someone then have sex with them. Not straight away but maybe after a few meetings. How would you know if they were carrying this? Would people have to get each other checked beforehand? I could never see that happening.
I suppose trust is a big thing but if someone does not know they are carrying this, then they will not get themselves tested, putting the other person at risk too.
Sounds like a catch 22 situation, hence why it is spreading maybe.

Simple answer? you wouldn't know... would people have to get checked? yes.
The thing is, like I said earlier, some older generation think they are invincible and that STI's are something that would never happen to them.
I have to say though, as swinger adults we are probably more aware of safe sex and STI's than a lot of vanilla adults.

Prefere strawberry myself.
It's so easy to get tested, quick and can be anonymous if you want, we do it twice a year, just to be sure, peace of mind etc, never had symptoms, but you can't always see em (Chlamydia!)
Also - bonus - you can grab the years supply of free condoms while you're there lol

So very funny but do you think it has doubled cause there are more people getting divorce or cause swinging is more common
Thanks for the thread splendid, people do need to know what's going on out there...
Not going into detail, but have had experience... and the clinic I went to was really good - and it is anonymous. They don't judge you, and are only interested in your safety and welfare.
I would honestly recommend a trip if you're worried at all, and like others have said, you don't always know what's going on in your body... and did you know if you have had warts it can be dangerous? I won't go into detail.. google or wikipedia it... If you spot anything amiss.. see your doctor or go to the clinic please!
I thank you x

Whatever happened to the femadom??
Wasn't that supposed to help things too or did females not like wearing them or did they not work?
the last time i went to a swing club,we watched one guy dance with 4 different ladies and in 20 minutes he had fingered them both....think guys we swinger stand high risk of catching anything this research is just a tip on the ice bug
oh splendid, please put the old knickers back on!
I think I'm with 777 on this one the first time.

The overall rate of infections more than doubled over the eight-year period from 16.7 per 100,000 population to 36.3 per 100,000.
you mean it's gone from % to % talk about bigging up a story.
Why target under 25s? It could be said that under 25s become over 45s. However as we all know an old lesson is soon forgotten.
What is the lesson? Sex has risks. We are rubbing each others fluids over our bodies, yes we are. Kiss, body fluid. Finger, body fluid. Ejaculate, body fluid. Male condom, body fluid on balls.
That fact is sex is enjoyable, it is the only act we would tolerate such wet contact. So if we play we should want to feel safe...ish, and we have a duty to reduce the risk to others. That does not mean stopping, just stopping when we are infectious. How do we know? We get tested. That is no use to other, unless we act on the test results. Which means there needs to be support for those who find they have a positive result.
My guess is the normal result of receiving a call to say 'Do you remember me, I have an STD.' is horror and anger. By making an STD less of an issue we could be making it easier for some to discover they have one.
Does thank make sense?
Travis
just a point why do they never report the story that 99,960 out of a 100000 do not have an std biggrin

Because the researchers would all be out of work Kryps. lol
There is a question I would like to ask though....In porn films and I have seen it at swingers clubs too, the girl gives a guy a long blow job, then he puts a condom on. Surely a guy can leak a bit when aroused so surely the other person is taking in her mouth semen? Also if a guy goes down on a fem she can also leak fluids?
Now I dont know how much it takes to pass something on but...I would have thought only a very small ammount is needed. That being the case if you really want to be safe then use a condom with a blow job too? Just a question.
I think porn actors/actresses are regularly tested and use a condom simply to show that condoms for penetration are a must dunno
I may be wrong and frequently am so I may have just used expensive electricity on writing total bollox :lol2:

they're still around, I was helping at a drop in centre for teens a while back and a few girls were asking for them.
Its interesting that the greatest incidence of transmitted infections is of genital warts – the one which could have been prevented by the Gardasil vaccine, but not by the Cervarix vaccine which the NHS chose to give to teen girls. Although their remit was probably just to reduce cervical cancers, it’s a shame they were unable to look at the “bigger” picture.
