IN DEFENCE OF WINKS

I think every guy who written paragraph after paragraph sending e-mails to people who don,t ever bother with a no thanks will think the wink system is a god-send.
Yes it is an easy option & yes it is probably very lazy but the alternative is spend hours writing e-mails of which don,t even get a response :cry:
As a erm............................. singlishhhhhhhhhhh guy I know how difficult it is finding genuine , normal down to earth people on-line.
So girls & couples please don,t be offended when we wink ya mad

Winks are not that bad, no worse than one liners, what annoys me more is that guys don't seem to be able to read. 99% of the mail I get is from people who either haven't read my ad and profile or read it and chosen to ignore it. Since when did 243 miles away become local and 5'7" become tall. Sorry, minor rant over.

I'm glad this thread has been started - I also would like to defend the wink message.
Before wink messages were introduced I had to open all my mail before I could find out which ones were spam from the desperados who copy and pasted to every female on the site without even looking at their profile.
Now the spam is identified for me and gets deleted automatically saving me the time of actually having to read the useless, thoughtless message.

I agree, I quite enjoyed the attention winks bought :twisted: I have now put one of those message thingy's on though as I go in the chatroom a fair bit and was fed up with them. However I find more annoying (as H-x says) that I have written quite plainly in my profile that I'm not currently swinging and still get want a shag pm's (well written or not!)

oh go on then i will lol... i understand what you are saying that winks save you the time and effort into writing emails that get no responce, but what now?? winks that save you time but still get no responce.
let me know when you find success withthe winking, in my opinion, yes only mine , winking is lazy, if people took the time to read what soemone was after and only reply to the really suitted ads then it might help.
oh another thing profiles are not ads, so why hunt them down and complain when you dont get a reply from winking one or when its empty???
mine is empty as i am fed up with winks and the system sending my details out to randoms who if i wanted to meet i would have come across naturally, either in the forums, chat room or the ads. not through profiles.
oh one last thing just because when you click on view my pictures you see a message saying ask me to see them , NO dont thats a automated site thing , i do not want you to ask me to se them , if i wanted anyone to see them they would be in public not private domain.

Writer's cramp?? You wanna try wading through all the replies I've had since last Saturday ! :shock: Everything ranging from 21 yr olds, marrieds, cock shots, winkers and guys who generally can't read properly !
If I'm going to send a message to someone in the hope of a reply, I would rather get the cramp and write something decent and make more of an impression so no winks from me

What really annoys me is the bit that says "take a look at my profile" and when you do there is nothing not even an ad or a picture and if there is, % are cock shots, but in my profile it says ~I don't respond to winks , so you can tell they ain't read all of it. :fuckinghell: banghead

Well we weren't too happy about all the winking going on at first, but we have now worked out a system.
For those who we think might interest us, if they have a well written ad, a couple of nice pics, and some relevant information on their profile, we will usually sit down together and compose a message which is relevant to that ad, always including information about the ad, so they / he / she can see that we have read it, and itâ€™s interesting to us. We will also include as much information as possible about us and why we think we might be compatible.
If on the other hand we come across an ad that doesn't really have too much info on it and looks like its been written in haste, but we could still be interested, one or the other of us will fire off a quick, "saw your ad, would like to know a little more about you, blah blah
but if we find an ad that has no info, no pics nada, but there is an interest maybe due to location whatever, we send a wink. only fair really donâ€™t you think? dunno

I have to admit - 'winks' have given me a few laughs.
I still chuckle when I get a PM that thanks me for my reply and agrees with what I have written...
and then I send a message explaining they are agreeing with a site generated auto-reply which I had no hand in typing and was blissfully unaware they had winked in the first place.
Oh the replies that come back from that are side splitting lol

Certain ads or profiles strike a chord with me,I relate to them and I appear to be the type of guy they are looking for.I have never sent a wink,I've written in the hope it open up initial contact and that to talking on the phone and all that only comes with some effort on my and their part,building up a rapport in the hope of it leading to good things for all concerned.
