cause that is how i have develope the allergy work for the health service
Otherwise known as SHoogle
lol
I've just googled it to see if there's any more - Durex Avanti is the one I know is available, its also stocked nationwide at GUM or FP clinics & free distribution funded by local PCT's....
but I just saw another brand called Trojan - which i'm familiar with but cant recommend....... and thought this was worth a mention :
Trojan Naturalamb is the perfect condom for couples who want a latex-free condom with heightened sensitivity. It contains no latex and is made from a natural membrane that delivers its unique sensitivity. Does not protect against STDs.

Now I may be missing something here, but what exactly is the point of that dunno
Do they actually sell any? :dunno:

Latex free also available on the main shopping shelves of my local Sainsburys (as opposed to at the in-store chemist)
John

NOTE: These Condoms Do NOT Protect Against HIV or Other Sexually Tramsmitted Only Offer Protection From Unwanted Pregnancy. BE SMART!!
I'm wondering, between rotflmao - is it something about latex that is more "protective" against clap ?

I also have severe latex allergy and use Durex Avanti. It is the most commonly available one in supermarkets and chemists.
Mates also do a latex free one, but I found those tore very easily when being put on, so not very good for their intended purpose
Latex free condoms are actually a fair bit more expensive than their latex counterpart and whilst they are a bit thicker than *normal* condoms, I've never had anyone say they lost sensitivity with them - certainly they are easier to put on with your teeth than latex ones
I'm not sure if they are available in clinics, but certainly my local practice only supply bog standard condoms, not latex ones at all :?
Latex allergy is certainly no fun, but it needn't mean you have to stop shagging wink

Errrrrrr was still using latex redface
I developed a latex allergy also. I used to get some allergic symptoms but I always attributed them to other factors but it was not until 10 months ago that the symptoms got severe (I get a head to toe rash that is extremely itchy and need to drink heaps of anti-histamine syrup to find relief). This happens even if I only get touched by latex (as in hospital nurses wearing latex gloves or the pedicurist wearing them and so on.)
I also use the Avanti condoms which are the only ones in my knowledge that are latex free but unfortunately they are not available everywhere, are too dear and too wide for the average man. You can't win in this world, can you? confused

It doesn't make us more susceptible but as we use gloves on a daily basis, we're more likely to be able to identify this allergy. Latex free gloves have been available throughout the NHS for some time. It can cause problems when treating patients who have this allergy too, especially if we're not told they have it.
Actually , the more exposed you are to an allergen, the more likely you are to become allergic to it.
My allergy was insignificant in the early years, just a localised rash, redness, itchiness caused by wearing rubber gloves to do the housework in, condom usage, and even my clothes (bras, elasticated waistlines, swimsuits). The symptoms never lasted long enough to make me wonder or worry. However, about a year ago I was forced to wear compression stockings on a daily basis and that is when the real trouble began - due to the prolonged exposure to latex. The orthotist said there is no alternative at the moment so I have to down bottles of antihistamine to fight the symptoms. confused
I think latex allergy is a serious issue and people should be made aware of the symptoms so that they can be careful not to be overexposed to it. Well done, felixx, for bringing the matter up!
