How many times have you watched a film and wondered who on earth thought of casting that actor/actress as the romantic lead? I don't mean just chick flicks here but any film where the lead (usually male with a face like the back of a bus) manages to get his leg over with a bevvy of beauties or one that just doesn't seem to fit the role at all.
Examples:
Alan Rickman in Truly,Madly,Deeply. confused Don't get me wrong, he's a fantastic actor and I can watch him in anything but Mel Gibson he ain't.
Leonardo De Caprio in Titanic. If they had cast Billy Zane in the lead instead, it would have made the whole film a lot more credible for me.
It's not a looks V personality question, just something that got me thinking.
Any others you can think of?
Oooohhh Sass noooo Alan Rickman is lush!!! and so is Leo!! what are you thinking hunni?? That cold has truly gone right to your head! go and have a lie down babe and you'll feel better soon :therethere:
Jude Law in anything... I can't stand the scrawny weazle. lol
And that programme Judge John Deed.... oh wassis name. Anyway who would have thought that pretty young women would be throwing themselves at him?
High Society.
How could Grace Kelly fancy Bing (wrinkly prune) Crosby rather than Cary Grant?
Ladies can you explain??

Can't see that one either. I think Grace Kelly must have been a bit loon to pass over Cary Grant

John Deed is a pompous, screwed up windbag but Martin Shaw was named by someone as the most shaggable 'tec of all time in The Professionals

Ok, Alan Rickman could come and haunt me anyday. Martin Shaw - Yum!
I may get jumped upon for this but if anyone has seen Mr and Mrs Smith - just think how much better a film it would have been if Geoff Goldbloom had played the lead.

~Alan Rickman..... :inlove:

They are attracted to the mans honour and moral fortitude. There is more to men than physical beauty.
Would THE FUGATIVE been better if Tommy Lee Jones was dr Kimble and Harrison Ford was the cop? After all Harrison wouldn't kill his wife would he? but T L Jones might!!!!

I'd like to nominate Dick Van in Mary Poppins as a representative of all americans doing dodgey British accents....
We know who you are - Keanu Reeves - Dracula
Robin Williams - Mrs Doubtfire

Wow some good 'uns here already.
Definitely Martin Shaw as a judge just don't cut the mustard with me.
Dick van - was just flucking rotflmao :rotflmao: :rotflmao: as a cockney chimney sweep.
And I'm sorry girlies but Mel Gibson as Braveheart was the pits - mind you Mel Gibson as anything is near to the most unconvincing rendition of anything he plays. He's an insincere, anti-semite, who fancies himself summat rotten. As a joke my kids bought me Mel Gibson's calendar the Christmas before last. I stuck it up in the downstairs toilet. Haven't gone on a bit too long on this have I??? dunno
.
One of the worst and most disappointing for me was Morgan Freeman being cast as Alex Cross.
I like the books and I think he is a stupendous actor but he is just soooooooo not that character.

My fave actor is Kevin Spacey. Brilliant but doesn't seem to get that status. But its something i believe he doesnt seek and spends a lot of time in theater in the uk now.
I thought Tom Hanks was misscast in the Da Vinci Code - should have been Sam Neill  - then again I though the film was pants anyway rolleyes

Was Martin Shaw more convincing as The Chief?
He actually is a rather nice gentleman, lives in Norfolk and gives up some quality time to charitable causes...
