you see, if you happen just to be doing the weekly shop, and see a lovely bunch of lilys, and buy 'em just cos you love her and know she'll like 'em, well the whole apology thing goes out the window doesn't it? just a thought for blokes doing the whole apology stigma thing! ;)

you been bugging my lounge?????
Kat regularly buys me a bunch of lilys (my favourite white ones) when he is shopping, not because he needs to apologise for anything but because he wants to and because we agreed that I would only ever get flowers if he felt he wanted to give them to me.
Bloomin Hell - Kat, explain this for me please!!!!

i would have rathered a back rub. lol
how about you women?.. ever bought a man flowers?
would you?
Magik

I have never bought MrFC flowers....as he would look at me as if I had gone bonkers !!! confused
But a back rub with a little loving and attention would bring a big smile to his face.
But I love flowers !!! MrFC sent me some last week and had them delivered to were I work which made me blush, but made me go all gooey... smile

The biggest faux pas I ever made was buying flowers for a "butch" woman I was seeing. I needed to say sorry for something - and I did my normal flower thing. WORST thing I could've done. sad :(
Cost me almost £100 too!!!

 Was about to say "hey me too!!". Then I realised that WAS me in a previous incarnation.
Need Dambuster to clarify that. Dammie - did I used to be Shynewbie? confused
Previous in carnations? lol
Mike.

I'm not sure anymore. I'll ask her next time I see her.
If I'd been around last week for the ball, I would have been "shynewbloke"
Yes. Some time ago. The girl I was dating sent me Interflora. I was totally bowled over.
Flowers make anyone's home look more beautiful. I don't know why a guy would not like receiving them. But being sensitive to what someone likes when buying them anything is key.
The scariest present I can get as a guy is probably cuddly toys. Girls buy them as presents cos they like them. I mean, do I look like a cuddly toy kinda guy??? I find it hard to fake pleasure on receiving them (what the f*ck am I going to do with it? put it on my bedroom table? cuddle it lovingly?)
Flowers are also good cos they are beautiful and then die - of their own accord. Being given a house plant (unless you're good with plants, which sadly I am not) has too many overtones, a bit like a test (love a plant and make it grow, move on to a pet, and after six months move on to a relationship - and other psychological hoops).
Roses are the best, always, unless someone has a specific favourite. Lilies are fantastic (even if they can be a bit messy). Tulips don't last but are a nice quickie lol. Put lots of thought into them, whether they are Interflora or from the supermarket.
People who are good at receiving flowers are nice to get them for again. Saying "thanks very much" dumping them in the sink and saying you'll sort them later is no way to behave whip . Flowers are worth getting engrossed in, you can stare at one for hours, by candlelight, or enjoy its perfume as you go to sleep or awaken. I think they are worth giving your full attention to while the giver is there if possible. Take them into the kitchen - know the routine by heart - trim the stems at an angle at at the desired length stripping away the lower leaves as necessary - arrange them in teh vase so they look good (but don't spend all night on this - you need to concentrate on it to the exclusion of all else or it seems insincere so if you leave your other half dangling for too long they'll get pissed off so if you can't decide then ask their opinion, do a reasonable job and go back to it later.
As you can see I got carried away a bit there - but that's the point wink
I have bought flowers for men and women. I have been known to buy a bunch of flowers for my dad just because I saw them and thought they were nice. He recieves them well and feels quite chuffed, just like my mum does. dunno
I love the reaction I got when I gave a friend a framed flower. He bought me some gorgeous lillys to try to make it up to me for something. We had a fab weekend cos he really put the effort in, great memories. I took one of the flowers and pressed and framed it. When I gave it to him he nearly cried. I wish I hadn't been driving at time but I didn't know how well it would be recieved. redface I do wonder if he still has it and if it has gone all brown at the edges yet..... I bet it's died by now! lol
I got a beautiful bunch of flowers from my beloved the other week because I was feeling a bit low. Totally unexpected and came back from his shopping trip with them, just because he wanted to remind me how special I am to him. Lovely.
:inlove: True romance like that and I'm simply putty in his hands. smile

gem, i'm sure whoever it was still has it, even if the edges have coloured a touch? ;)
n x x x ;)
Lots of men have bought me Flowers, and it is always considered a worthwhile and generous gesture, and we tend to sit together with the Flowers in front of us enjoying the whole experience. Although I would have to say that given a preference I would opt for Tetleys!!
