Just got back from being out, switched on the news to discover....
Richard Hammond is in a critical condition following a car crash!!!
Not sure if I'm allowed to put links on, so feel free to slap my wrists if I'm in trouble....
God, I hope he's gonna be ok...........
His poor wife must be in pieces. If he spoke to the fire crew though that's a good sign, surely????
H.x
We are have just read - very sad news - fingers crossed that he will be okay. Thanks for posting this as hadnt seen this earlier
fuk me......
and i hope richard gets better soon
my word!!
one of the few telly 'personalities' i actually like and can watch!!
i hope he gets better soon!
His family mite not read this but i wish them all good luck to
One of a kind, laughed so many times at their mad antics, I hope he makes it through ok.
His condition has now been changed to stable which is a good sign, but as we know all too well in this house things can change so quickly....
Apparently one of the rear tyres burst while he was attempting to set a new land speed record.
I hope he is gonna be ok, he is one of the funniest and most genuine presenters on TV.
Fingers crossed for a speedy recovery and all best wishes and thoughts with Richard and his family x
that terrible news its critical as well my prayers go out to his friends and family and to him getting better...get well soon

FIRE & STORMY xxx
met him once a few years ago and he is a great bloke
hope everything turns out well
I was shocked to hear about this last night - I always watch Top Gear and was eagerly awaiting the next series.
I can't imagine how his family are feeling, having to sit and wait to see what happens.
i have to admit that i was never into top gear or motoring shows before clarkson, hammond and may took the reigns, but now i am hooked...
any crash at near 300 mph is going to be serious...but i am so glad that his condition improved overnight....
get well soon hamster!!!!!
Hopefully he should be OK Fabio. I saw a guy roll his drag car doing about 240mph at Santa Pod, he walked away (a little shaken, but generally fine) and was in the pits an hour later stood next to the wreckage collecting donations from the crowd to help rebuild it.
Hope the Hamsters ok, It's certainly one of the best things on telly which is mainly down to the presenters and how much fun they have making it.
I used to work on one of the rivals to Top Gear and have been to many of the tests at airstrips and test tracks like Millbrook. For a world record attempt in a jet car (which is what i think they were doing) the H&S requirements would include a Firecrew with full extraction capabilities and also an Ambulance crew. There would also have been a detailed safety meeting and review with BBC H&S staff, Production crew and also the people providing the car, who would have extensive experience of the requirments for running it.
The only difference to Santa Pod is i think they have a medical centre, which from what i've read wouldn't have made much difference as he was taken straight away by air ambulance.
So although they're different, they're not that different.
