[They may have 773,243 records on their database,

OK it states the total amount of members who have joined since opening but as Tony says new people join every day and people leave every day.
It still doesn't detract from the fact that SH is the uk's most popular Swinging site and since you posted, the number has gone up to 773,423, so 180 new people have joined.
I only stated why I thot that might be, not that I was a fan, I have my gripes like any other person on here but I also give praise when I believe it to be warranted too.
Woo
There are sites out there 100% just looking for your money, why should SH give them the publicity?
There are sites out there that are 100% free, why should SH advertise the competition?
It aint rocket science when you think about it

I can see you are a fan of SH woo, but how do you cope with knowing the claim of '773,243 members
can't be wrong!' on the front page is clearly untrue.
They may have 773,243 records on their database, but most are obsolete non-paying members who have not accessed the site for months or years.
The saying 'Garbage in, Garbage out' springs to mind

Yep loads of people not signed in for yonks.. and it is a bit of a pain having to look through them when doing a search.. but have you seen how many is joining on a day basis?
if not, click the link below! ( takes a min to load )

242 new accounts so far today
Tony wink
So what if 242 joined?
What if a bank claimed to have 700,000 savers, but in fact only had 5,000 savers, the 700,000 was the total number of savers it ever had, because the churn rate was so high. The regulator would either fine or shut the bank down.
Partly the reason you have found 242 new SH members on the 20th Sep (I will believe you that you spent 5 minutes to count them ;) ) is they believed the claim of 700,000 members.
If you click on those new members, how many are paid up? I haven't found any.
Shall we have a vote on how many paid up active members are on SH?
How about I start at 5,000? Lower, Higher?

hmmm, i never mentioned anything about paid up members, just stating, the amount that joins on a day to day basis is far higher than any other uk swingers site.
I wouldn't say its over the top to guess that 20% paid or will pay up, thats about 1700 new a month, not bad going i think!
Far more than 5000 active on SH, quite often you see 1400 just in video chat, on all the other uk swingers sites ( that we have been on ), i have never seen nowhere near that amount and all the sites have accounts that are no longer used as far as we have seen.
And no, not 5 min to count them, just short of 5 pages x 50 per page biggrin
Tony wink
There is a fair amount of members who havent paid a penny but have been here since the early days and they are included in the figures...
A fair amount of people have more than one account...
Even getting rid of the figures from the homepage doesnt detract from the fact its the biggest site dunno

I see what you mean Mallock, with so many volunteers doing the graft 24/7, it is a canny business model, I wonder if SH is looking for investors as well as new members?

Its the same as real life too......... this country would fall to bits if it wasnt for volunteers!! Its no different to how other models work in real time, thats the way I see it. You have management commmittee's made up of community members etc etc Its a good model that works...smile :)
As for swingers sites, when I joined this I also joined another well know site. Strangely that one died a death not long afterwards because of the changes they made to the site. Still used an reasonably popular but became a *hub* for a number of different online communities.
Anyway, Im now a members of a number of swinging sites...not bad for a non swinger eh???? I rarely post in the others. This is the site Ive become accustomed too and made many good friends......so until they get rid of me, looks like Im here to stay a while longer!!!

when did you start thinking aquaman..... rolleyes
never paid to be a member of a site as yet, and doubt i ever will pay for the privelege, but i've registered usernames on other pay sites, mostly just for a bit of a nosey, you know, testing the facilities, and i have to say, as far as pay sites go, this is by far the best one out there that i've come across, and it is by far the least underhand, and most straightforward.
the numbers thing though? just totting up all the registered email addresses is as good a way to count members as any, i suppose ((( though i can think of better? ))) and it's technically accurate, yes, but of course there aren't three quarters of a million active members on here? 3% or so of the entire UK adult population are SH members? confused i think not! lol ;) whatever, it's still the busiest site i've come across, by a long way. other forums might be faster moving, but the number of active members driving them is much smaller. SH is more diverse, and so more engaging at times, cos there are more people contributing to it, and it has the most options available to the user. it's still my favourite place on the net, and still me little t'interweb home, no matter how hard i try to dislike it at times? ;)
phil_fuller? when i first discovered the filters in a PM i'd sent, i thought it was a bit intrusive too. a bit Big Brotherish? in short, it pissed me right off! ;) loath as i am to agree with anything HC says, have to say, well no, i can't think of many businesses that would sit back and allow their members to abuse the resources they've paid for and provided with adverts for the competition.
it was also pointed out to me that the ban on URLs to other swinging sites on the open forum equally applied to PMs, cos it's still a post somewhere on the site? you could say that electronic filtering on the URLs to other websites saves you from a breach of AUP that could result in a ban? :? maybe? dunno ;)
n x x x ;)
Thanks for agreeing with me Neil lol
Ive not doubt youve sat there many a time nodding and thinking as to how clever i am. Its nice you feel you can now do it in public
