Please read and let me know what you think..
A while ago I was out shopping and had forgotten to put my pinky ring on. Most of the time when I'm out I cover it up, as I was born with extra fingers on both my hands, though the left one is tiny and I don't cover it.
The right one though, is a lot bigger. When I handed over my money, the assistant caught sight of it, and I saw her pull back and the look in her eyes was disgust.
It upset me - and I felt very uncomfortable. The people I know well see it when they come to visit and it doesn't bother them. I can understand when people see something which isn't the "norm" and it freaks them out, but this was a bit obvious.
What do you think? I am thinking of having it removed... but thinks why should I? I would love to hear your views on this.
Thank you xx
I have had hand surgery, I had no choice. My hand works fine, it still does not feel the same. Some find that having an item remove leaves a sensation of pain, I do not, it just does not feel the same, but then I was just put back together.
My advice is if the finger does not give you problems keep it. As for others, it is their problem, do you really want to please someone who treats/looks at you badly just because you are different?
In the end it is down to you, but ensure you ask about pain and feeling after surgery.

Thanks Travis... It only gives me real problems in the winter when I get cold, as I have arthritis.
But I do agree with you - why should I change to please other people?
Again.. thanks xx
You are very welcome
Travis
I think the answer is, would it please you?
My little sister had her ears pinned back when she was a teenager. Even though she is stunning and has beautiful long hair, she hated that her ears stuck out. When she had it done she grew in confidence and felt much better about herself. She didn't have to have it done and no one in the family encouraged it (certainly not me she was far prettier than me with the ears as they were).
For her it was the right thing to do as she has blossomed as a women without having to worry that people were looking at her ears, but for you it may not be the right choice. It really depends on how you view it, the risks and why you are thinking of doing it. Please yourself, not other people.
Thanks for responding Venus, I am 41 now, and seem to have got life pretty well sorted, and had so much surgery in the past, not sure if I would want any more.
It doesn't really bother me that much, just others. I will just have to remember to put my ring on! It protects it too, as have whacked it a few times in the past and it hurt like hell.
I just need to get a bit of confidence back xx
Hmmmm... people can be cruel, thoughtless and ignorant, but try and remember that they are no better than you and to be honest, the type that recoil are not likely to be the most intelligent in the world. Anyone with any brain cells will understand that we are all different and more likely be curious than disgusted.
With regards to confidence. I bet you have met some really nice people and by having something different have had an instant ice breaker? Point of conversation etc. I bet a few people have admitted little secrets to you that they may not feel comfortable with to others.
I had one guy who was really really embarrassed because he only had one ball. Call me stupid, but I hadn't even noticed, I was too busy looking at the sticky thing in front of them *blushes*. How does that change him as a man? He was still the great guy I had enjoyed every minute of the evening with and had the stamina of an ox (ah happy memories).
I think what I'm trying to say is that the people that count are the ones that accept you for who you are and after peeking at your profile you have the cutest smile (yes even for 41) CUTE!!!
Ignore the netative as it's not worth worrying about and indulge in the positive.

Phuckers, its not a problem at all, as my other half is black, and we are forever getting "looks". Oxford where we live is a very ethnically diverse town, but still some areas are "no go".
We have the same in London, a couple of weeks ago I was assaulted by a woman with a pram... and she made comments about being with one of their men.
I suppose if I can ignore those that don't accept us, I can ignore people looking at my extra finger.
My mum used to say it made me extra special as I had something that others didn't have.
Thanks for responding!! xx
first of all.. KISSES!!!
second babes.. at the end of the day your the only one that has to shut your eyes and accept who you are and what you look like.... if you are only upset by it by the reactions of some stupid people then fuck them... but if it goes deeper than that then you need to make sure you do it for the right reasons...
being different isnt bad its just different.. if we all looked and spoke an walked the same what a boring world it would be.... Ive spent years wanting to have a boob opperation, a reduction purley for the fact that when i first got my boobs i was made to feel like a freak, boys would poke them and want to play with them.. now dont laugh at 13 it wasnt fun!!! it gave me such a complex about the way that i look that ive spent years hiding under tents... then when i was adult enough to look at myself properly and see what was really there.. it wasnt so bad..... but people are cruel, think about what you feel if it wasnt there... ive thought about it and i think i wouldnt be me any more if i wasnt the booobified girl i am now... im not saying that you shouldnt do it.. but think about it as if you had done it.. you would be taking away someting that is you....
at the end of the day..... life is far to short to worry about what other people think of you, your the only one in your brain at night in your dreams in your mirror.. if you can cope with fuck them all!!!!! well not litterally leave some for us!!!
mwah xx
Misskitty you are stronger than i thought, keep up the spirit
no human being is perfect, everyone got something they would like to change or hide on their bodies but we learn to live with our imperfections...
One thing worth considering though, is what you assumed to be shock and disgust, may have been shock and embarrassment on the part of the girl. Suddenly being confronted with something out of the ordinary often causes a moment of intense confusion while we try to work out what is different and why, then having to re-adjust our thinking to take the new information into account.
Having extra fingers is not so rare though, I remember some years ago a calculator advert that was published has a drawing of a six fingered man holding the device. The add was featured on “That’s Life” I think and the company said they would give away a free calculator to anyone with six fingers. Calculators were a lot more expensive in those days…..anyway it cost them a fortune as hordes of six fingered people wrote in for one.
Unfortunate accident, or cunning marketing ploy…you deciede.
you might loose another finger and wish youd kept the spare one !
Thanks for all the replies so far, they have given me food for thought.
I can understand the assistants confusion, but it really was a look of disgust.
I am going to stay the way I am, having extra fingers is a family trait, and something, if i'm honest, I am proud of. So I don't know why I should get rid of it for the sake of a few people....
Mwah to furby!! xx
Thanks Voddie babe... good point! I think my other half laughed when he read that... he he!
Anais.. thank you - I am me and nothing will change that xx
I get compliments for my six fingered hand job... my other half never complains! Two tongues? now theres a thought.....
Hi Nola, I am with you on that, had so much essential surgery in the past, I don't think I want to have anything else done if I don't really have to!
