If people don't want to use it, then don't, no one is making you.
I really don’t understand why you are all going on about it. I don’t like it and won’t be using it, so I’ll be walking on by…….
If you don’t like it walk on by………
Now who wants a shagg?? lol  :bounce:

Nope... no-one is making us use it. However, no-one's stopping us discussing it either, I don't think there's anything wrong with having a conversation about it, that's what forums are for.
I like chatter and I'm quite curious as to why it's thought to be a good idea. I'm inquisitive by nature. Can't help it! wink
So I take it you would rather be nosey, than have a shagg?? rotflmao:rotflmao:

Due to the fact that I've not shaved... that's a definite possibility!! :giggle:
redface
the problem with "walking by" is that eventually you end up walking by more of the site than you actually use and then there is little point using the site at all.
A pretty good example of that is friends reunited---what's happened to that?

Friends reunited went belly up because when they first started out there was a yearly charge, and as there was nothing really like it, people paid the money.
Then the likes of FB and Twitter and the others did it for free.
But by then it was too late for friends reunited as people had already deemed FB much better.
Friends reunited do not charge anymore and are struggling for numbers to get back money through advertising.
See greed sometimes can be the ultimate downfall., as they left it far too long as a pay site even though at 5 quid a year it was good value.
FB has obviously far more attractions attatched to it's site which in turn attracts far bigger numbers.

Not exactly the point Sarah.
I don't dispute the right of the folks at SH Towers to add anything they wish to this site either for the benefit of the membership or commercial gain (whether used or not).
The original question was 'what is it' and 'why do I need it' - it appeared out of the blue, no pre-release communication to expect it, no documentation on how to use it or the benefits to the membership of SH.
I get the distinct feeling that the Mods and the Ops were also 'caught on the hop' like the rest of us....dunno
As others have said, the forums are here to discuss topics of interest to the community, threads that are posted and are of interest are read and sometimes posted to, others that we have no interest in are indeed 'passed-on-by' - we don't pop-in and leave a post on them saying rubbish thread why did you start it! (although on second thoughts looking at some of them we wish we had  )
Agreed we can and will pass on this 'function by' out of personal choice as we do with other functions on here (IM / Videos / Personal ads) or passing by some rooms in the Chatroom as they don't appeal, but that's not to say they are wrong as others may and do have a use for them - it's their personal choice on how they use the site.
Instead of being new added functionality - it's fast becoming a PR Disaster No communication from 'Admin' and 'defensive' Mod comments will just add fuel to those regular forum posters on here to feed on.....and that was not the original intention of this post.
Having a referral feature is something that we've always wanted to add to the site. Running a site of people, getting new people on the site is one of our goals. If there's just one person that invites someone here who then joins, that's one more than we would have got.
If someone doesn't want send any invites, I suspect they'll just ignore it. From what I know most members have a 'swinging' email account separate to their 'real life' one. I guess they'll invite contacts from that address book to the site, or if they know any addresses off the top of their head, type those in themselves - we're not expecting members to invite friends and family as that would just be silly.
To follow, top referrers will be rewarded with an incentive backdated to when the referral system was launched, but for now, to keep tongues wagging, I won't say what that is.

I can't actually think of a good reason to put a referral system such as this on a swingers site. confused
I don't know about everyone else but I'd imagine most of us spend a great deal of effort in maintaining our privacy when it comes to our extra hobbies. To put a referral system on the likes of Facebook is fine and dandy... no-one really expects any consequences of being found out that you have a Facebook profile but the implications of your family, vanilla friends, work colleagues finding out about your swinging life are probably huge.
To put a referral system on a swinging site to me seems like it's not been very well thought out. In my view, it all goes back to the non-swinging thing. I'm sure Admin are only trying to provide the best service they possibly can for the members but when you don't partake fully in something I'm not sure you can fully understand it or the implications. What do you do if your boss finds out you enjoy the odd group session or taking saucy photos of yourself and brings it up at the next board meeting? What if your contract restricts you from this sort of activity and it needs to be kept secret? Common sense would tell me that a service like this on a swinging site is pretty pointless.

Well, I've pm'd admin now on two separate occasions on another matter over a period of nearly two weeks and not had even the simple courtesy of an acknowledgement.
Maybe they're too focused on matters that don't matter to the majority and don't care a toss about individuals dunno
I was pretty pissed off when I saw the new addition. I couldn't see the point in it, I sure as hell wasn't going to tell any of my friends what swinging site I use. Its my business, its my place I hang out being me and I don't want to be wary someone at work is watching everything I say here. Although I have an email address for online stuff, I certainly don't have one just for swinging.
But, just this week a work friend asked me about socials because they both like to be a bit flirty even if they don't know if they want to swing. They'd like to mix in a very relaxed atmosphere with adult conversation. He likes to chat online and has a cam which can show her sitting in the back ground. They have a few pictures and wouldn't mind showing others.
So now I find myself thinking maybe I would invite them to use SH because it is perfect for their needs.
I think I probably would use it but only to someone I trusted well and it would only be once in a blue moon confused
It is the same as any other part of the site though. I don't read the stories, I don't bother with the gallery or video's but I do use the forum, chatrooms and sometimes the ads

I don't like bringing up personal matters into an open forum, but GnV, you have my account on block, so I'm afraid my replies would be hidden from showing up in your mailbox.

Proper egg on face moment! :giggle:
Back to referrals though... I had to block my mum on Facebook... never mind sending her a referral to a swinging site. She'd have a heart attack cause obviously I'm sweet and innocent and would never partake in something so sordid!
