I really like the signatures whether profound or funny. If they are an 'in' joke then thats cool too as it tales butt a wink of an eye to disregard and does no harm.
I often think of changing mine but then i find so many good quotes and go oh that ones the best! Wait..... this one is better. But hang on.... Nope this is funnier. Or maybe i should go with the one with gravitas, etc, etc. In the end i in the main give up and go read some posts.

Yes I quite like reading sigs, whether you can tell much about the poster's character is hard to fathom, but nonetheless I like seeing what people put. I equally like profound and jokey but not fussed with mega long ones particularly flashing pics especially when this is in a thread that has a lot of postings from that person. It does my eyes in.

Agreed - some sigs can ne fun - but we dont like the flashing ones as they can burn your eyeballs out your head (or so I was told).
Since I last posted I've radically downsized my sig - for those that know me well probably realise that I very rarely do this
Mine usually come from books. If I come across something I like in a book that I'm reading, I'll change my signature.
The current one was from a partly-overheard conversation. I just wish I knew what they were talking about.
I read many signatures, and there are some that I quite like. They're usually an interesting thought expressed in an interesting way, and say something about the poster. Length, colours, and pictures usually put me off. And I think I'm sufficiently out that I don't even notice that the in-jokes are in-jokes.
Pet hates for sigs:
overly long sigs - four lines should be more than enough to prove you're either well read and erudite or funny!
animated sigs - off putting when trying to read a post and clutter up more lines.
Other than that post and be damned!
