Good evening Ladies & Gentlemen
Some of you may have noticed (and some may not!!) that we have not been as prolific with our posting as we used to be.
Seeing as we havent been around as much we thought we'd make a quick enquiry as to site protocol (which may have changed in our absence)
Is it the 'done thing' or is it the 'not-done thing' to make an issue about making 1000 posts??

Celebrations for those who pass 1000, 2000, etc posts are usually quite muted these days, when they happen at all.

I've never celebrated any milestones but I would be glad to reach 1000. IMHO I think it is upto you for such a milestone. Unless of course you feel that all 999 posts have been a waste of time. lol

Lots of people write something 'special' for their thousandth post - it's become a tradition and I make a point of looking for them. As freckles mentioned, there was a spate a while ago of mutual congratulations for every 100, then 50, then 10, and it all got a bit silly until the post count was removed from the main display. Competitive post counting has stopped as a result, and I think the site is better for that, but I still like to read the 1,000th threads. I suppose it's a bit like a coming of age, and a harmless bit of one-off recognition. smile

we have decided to use our 1001 Post to thank you for that post.
If we were playing a word association game then 'Eye to eye' certainly isnt the term that would spring to mind if the previous was 'Neil in Leeds'...!!

I'm not a huge fan of the post count celebration thing, especially with threads like the word association around where a poster can add hundreds of posts to the count without actually saying fuck all worth reading, however if it makes someone feel good then why not.
