I am another one who hates the whole texting culture. I find it really rude when I am talking to someone and they get out their phone and start texting to someone.
I recently had a date with someone and his mobile went off. while we were having a nice intimate chat in a cozy wine bar. He politely said excuse me while I get this , I said OK no problem. It was a text from his teenage daughter asking if he would lend her £20 for the weekend (this was on a Wednesday) I said oh right and I expected him to answer it later, perhaps when I went to the loo, but oh no, he then started to text her back while he was acctually talking to me and and when I said that I found it difficult to hold a conversation with someone while they were texting he just smiled and said "I wont be a moment". I was a little annoyed but let it go. Ten minutes later his phone went again, same daughter asking when could he get the money to her. He proceeded to text her back, I proceeded to leave. He did come after me and catch me up and when he did I got my phone out of my bag and started to text someone while he was talking to me and I smiled sweetly and said excuse me...... and screwwwww yoooo and walked away. I hate being rude to anyone but in this case I do think it was justified.......End of date, end of communication, person deleted from my email address book and from my mobile phone.
I love my mobile... but I do not let it interfere with my social graces or my lifestyle. Condoms are essential mobile phones are a convenience.

Judy that was fantastic - i just love your style!!!
I think txting is a fantastic way to chat up girls if you are shy(im not btw)it gives the shy type a chance to converse in a way they might not dare do in a face to face position.

Let's return to the old days, when mobiles were not around. Life was so much easier then. sad

Bugger! My carrier pigeon just snuffed it! My god what do i do? what do i do? I feel all cut off from the outside world! Hmmm i wonder if carrier gerbils are as effective?!
PS Maia....phwoarrr!! :inlove: Looking forward to meeting YOU at a meet one day!!
PPS As has been said before, sounds just like a pest. Keep ignoring his texts he'll soon go away!

Since when was it decided that if someone texts you, that you must reply pronto or at least text to say that you can't reply just yet???

lol I know the answer to that, February 2004. My former secretary decided that if guys didn't respond to her text message within an hour she wouldn't bother with them! Which may explain why she's been single for 18 months!
So now you know who to blame! wink
Disagree completely..............
I love waking up to filthy texts in the mornings
I have mine on silent sometimes but it's on constantly - I don't find it too intrusive that way. Also great for me if I am out and about cos school can contact if needs be (no good if I am in Essex with the posse tho! wink )
I also think that had I had mine years ago I would have surely found out earlier that my ex was cheating lol back then it was finding scrawled numbers out of pockets in the washing machine biggrin

I noticed Judy, but as I am crap at responding to text messages, I don't mind when other's don't reply!
Were you impressed with my spy network by the way! See I know everything that go's on! lol
