so i have now dipped my toe in the chats and yes at first didnt click in there , but on the strength of advice and perseverance by a few fellow members redface

have decided its a gr8 place to get to know people
cut my teeth in the forum and will allways try to place interesting threads in the forums ..........

Watch the Forum V Chat thread in the Chatroom forum... we've been opening that a little bit more regularly lately. It's cool... no unwanted whispers and no-one is ignored. :mrgreen:
We do talk utter rubbish but everyone's welcome! :giggle:
Oh... and the more you join in a room, the more people get to know you. If at first you don't succeed, try, try and try again! wink

Give it time as it can be busy and a bit daunting at first, but its just like going into a pub which is full of regulars, it can take a while for people to get used to seeing you around wink

Saying that, I will always be a forumite, first and foremost :wink:

travelling, the chat rooms are a strange place, its hard to get involved at first but perserverance does pay off (too many 'r's in there?)
at first i found they were very cliquey, omg i used the 'c' word, well of course they are if a clique is a group of people who chat to each other regularly and have probably met one another through socials munchs etc
it takes some time to get joined in especially if a conversation is going on people tend to more overlook than ignore on purpose cos they are involved in the room chat at that time
i personally try to say hi to everyone that comes into a room cos i remember what it was like and most others do too from what i have seen.
its like everything else on SH or any other walk of life, you get out what you put in. if youve only been in once try it again, theres normally a forum chat like DG said on server 1 where you wont get a shag out of it but you can blether on talking shite with the rest of us to your hearts content.
and going back to your adverts thread, the chat rooms is the medium i use to arrange shags, i dont read adverts, i dont place adverts, i get used to someone in a room, see the way they are get a bit of there personality and thats what attracts me to them, then i may take it further, same as with the forums, i get a 'feel' for a person, lucky its not proved me wrong that many times.
so all i would say is be a bit more positive honey, give it another go, we arent as bad as you think you know biggrin

chat can be daunting and sometimes run too fast for people not used to it.....some rooms are friendly....some have an ongoing public conversation going and can miss a hello - don't let it put you off - just try and join in with a little stimulating conversation. The only thing that alienates anyone in there is whispering hi rather than saying it in the room - especially when peeps don't know you, or being gutteral or nasty....let people get to know you as a regular and not a hopper then they will join in with you....good luck and do say hi when we're in.

I used to live in the chatroom (back when there was just one lol

) and don't spend much time in them know as they scare me and I don't know as many people but everyone is right, you do need to persevere and just join in.
I can definately recommend the above chatroom - I will definately be back in there. A fun and gentle re-introduction! biggrin

I have been a member on here some years now and have done several posts however I rarely get acknowledged, where as in the chat rooms I have only been going in there since April 08 and now have many friends. This didn’t happen overnight, it took a little perseverance and getting involved in the general chat in the room, saying hi to people as they come into the room etc.
Even though I still don’t feel like an accepted forumite, I still persevere.
So Steve, I recommend you give the chat rooms another go and have some patience and enjoy all the aspects of SH

R6_biker's helpful tips for being accepted more easily into Chat:
1) Use CAPITALS - it makes you stand out as everyone always uses lower case
2) Whisper people frequently - especially the users with little single pink icons by their names wink

3) Finally (and people really like this) - if there is anyone on cam tell them exactly what you think they should be doing. Ask them repeatedly too as they may not see the first time. After all, it's like the tele, they are there for your enjoyment

I have been having it a bit quiet on forum lately and also in chat. I lost my mojo thingy for a bit though i do now know where it is. I just cant be arsed to get up and go get it.
Just go and fire some hello's and hiya's in the chatroom you'll soon get noticed. In fact go lurk in one for a while and take note of those people who are decent enough to reply to peoples hello's. Then mext time your in that room say hi yo the room and then hi to someone you think will answer you back with a hi.
As for being a forumite? I didn't think I was one but I have been toild I am now confused

I don'y know if thats good or bad. I certainly don't feel like one as i thought that to be a forumite you had to PM each other all the time and chat on MSN or face book etc. Oh yes and to gang up on newbies and verbally kick the sh*te out of them. I must of been wong dunno

but hey i still maintain barebacking is a not good thing for swinging :?
