 how can you not like jaffa cakes??
Oh I love marmite
When it descends to "are jaffa cakes biscuits?" remember that when left for air to get to them, biscuits go soft, cakes go hard - they are cakes.
Can I be an inbetweenie?
When I want marmite I have to have it now! otherwise I could,nt care less about it lol
Oh and I think jaffa cakes are cakes and I like em best when they go hard

I must be a cake on here and a biscuit when I log off.
As for the original post. Marmite is the work of satan when he has a hangover and the children are being pains and the dog has crapped on the floor.

are jaffa cakes... cakes ? surely the hint is in the name of them!.. they would be called Jaffa Tea's or Jaffa nobs if they were biccies!
as regards Marmite.. it is foul. i remember having to eat half a jar full, due to a forefit back at school.. it made me sick!.. nearly as bad as bovril.

Actually even after they was named there was a big debate and alot of money spend deciding if they were cakes or biscuits, as apprently the tax is different on cakes then that of biscuits! It was finally decided that they are cakes as someone said before cakes go hard when stale where as biscuits go soft!
wierd I know but I actually prefer stale jaffa's than soft ones smile
Marmite, we sometimes I like and sometimes I don't so I am living proof advertising lies!!
I just voted and split it 50/50...hate it btw!! *puke*
As for jaffa cakes...i like em but only the cheap ones...the Mcvities ones are too cakey for me rolleyes redface lol xx
Lurve the stuff
Although if you had asked a year ago I would have said hated the stuff lol
I started getting cravings for it so off I walks to the supermarket, buy the stuff then start to eat it with my fingers straight from the jar in the supermarket car park loon
Now I always buy the biggest jar I can get redface
Oh Cheese & crackers with marmite
Or cheese on toast with marmite
Or a spoonful in your favourite soups mmmmmmm

For those who want the details :
Jaffa cakes are cakes (due to their moisture content) and as such have zero VAT. If they were biscuits, they would get normal rate VAT (currently 15%) due to their chocolate coating that puts them in the 'luxury biscuit' range.
OK so cakes are LESS luxurious than biscuits? dunno
As for Marmite - the Gods never had Ambrosia as delicious as a nice pot of the brown heaven and a pile of fresh toast.
Marmite is fabulous stuff!
I'm a member of a pre-menstrual three pieces of marmite and butter on toast club.
Not a particularly catchy name which may be why there are only two of us!

Best of all the spreadable savoury brewing industry by-products! I've just had a toasted bagel positively dripping with butter, liberally coated with a perfect, glossy sheen of warm, runny marmite. It was nyom! So nyom in fact, that I think I'm off to make another one. smile

Yes, I like marmite, though I am not obsessed with it.
The twins are divided on this topic as well (by the way, for those of who remember them being born - they'll be FOUR in May! ). One of them loves the stuff and the other one hates it. Sometimes they have toast for tea and one of them always asks for marmite, while the other one wants jam!
As for Jaffa Cakes. I have a real weakness for them. I can have a packet of them in the cupboard for ages - provided it isn't open. Once I open them, that's it! redface
