And you make the point very well Mr T
Some would say that SH would stagnate without "new blood" - as would any community.
I agree, to a certain extent.
I know that quite a few of the people that have posted in this thread have been staunch supporters and defenders of "newbies" and flamers of the "hang the newbie" brigade.
Darkfire in particular. And I thank her for that.
What I would say tho' is that a twat is a twat and an arse is an arse; but one man's twat is another man's arse.
Nobody expects the Spanish inquisition a new member to read every thread or every page in a 30 page thread.
Personally, I think the search button is more of an arse than a friend.
But - I do agree with the pub table analogy. If a total stranger walked in and sat down at a table where I was sat with half a dozen people I knew well, I would expect them to show a little courtesy and respect for the "community" of the group.
And if the group had just spent two hours discussing the merits of circumcision, pubic shaving or the joys of anal sex, the new guy should understand their reluctance to do so again so quickly. Better to wait until he can ear-hole someone at the bar and ask again quietly and unobstrusively - A little like a PM maybe? Rather than fuelling a separate, heated debate about whether or not they have been made to feel welcome.
I think this thread is more about what we do want, rather than what we don't and I thank Darkfire for starting it and the others for their contributions
That post should be a sticky Dammie
