Welcome to the thread of the year awards 2004. While this was done a while back (April) a lot has changed since then, and some wonderful threads have been added. So itâ€™s time to show off the best of SH CafÃ© in the last year. The choice will be made on a nominations basis between now and Jan 1st 2005. I will try to keep a list of the suggestions in this 1st post for those who have no time to read back, or need some ideas in a category.
The Categories:

Judged best of any class, you donâ€™t need to vote for this, just vote for the individual categories below and the thread that receives the most nominations will become the Best Overall.

Your favourite comical thread

News, current affairs, real life dilemma or celebration.

For best comedy thread, I second the nomination of Davej's avatar challenge.
For best swinging thread, I nominate The sanctity of marriage. This thread was intended by its originator to put people down and could have evoked nothing but a lot of righteous indignation, but this was thwarted by the calm and intelligent responses of many enlightened contributors.
For best topical thread I nominate the verification debate. Lots of heat, lots of passion, a real treat to see such a highly contentious discussion go on for so long (over a thousand posts) with almost no dummy throwing or personal insults.
For best of the rest, I nominate The Poetry Corner. Watching that thread I see people tentatively dipping their creative toes and then, being encouraged by the responses, get their artistic juices flowing and just go for it. Wonderful!

I'm chuffed that the avatar thread went well......and it's got nothing to do with me starting it up....yeah, yeah ...I can hear a few say but truely it's not, no I'm pleased because the thing has had so many posters and viewers and every one of them have played their part.
We have had some wonderfull pictures stuck in there ranging from Dawns, Vix avatar, which I thought was beautifully done, to Vix sticking some string round a couple of spuds to represent some bum avatars, which again to my mind perfectly summed up what the thing was about and in between those extremes, all sorts of other efforts, it's just a pity that some got lost in the hosty thingy...yeah technical speak..... anyways what I found pleasing was that despite the piss taking, no one got uppity, no one over done the parody, all we had was a bunch of folk having a bloody good giggle, so a bloody big pat on the back for all of us that got in there and posted and another big pat on the back for all those that read it and left it alone if it wasn't their cup of tea.
.......davej now stands clear cos with all that back slapping, there's gonna be some phlegm come up somewhere and he has just polished his shoes...........
