I have another idea! Newbies don't read stickies- not that I know of, anyway.
There should be "Popuppy type thingies" that appear for the first five or so times you click the new topic button, such as:
"Tip- threads such as "timewasters," "Finding a sbf," "cock size" etc, are the most common type- use the SEARCH box, and add to an old thread on commonly seen subjects"
Each could be different, and if it's kept really succinct I think there's a far greater chance of them being read.
:smug:

i think thats a brilliant idea
Why thank you kiss
Just seen another poppy up thing candidate- shaving!

Ok well how about this.....
There is always a mod wondering about somewhere... Why not, when they spot ANOTHER dreaded timewaster topic put on it some links to other ones and then lock it??!!
mad

OR
Just don't read or post on the threads when you see them dunno
Just because a Mod might be on site, doesn't mean we always see every post before other members. We do have other things to do while we are onsite, including having fun :rascal:

Or perhaps the people who moan about the threads being started could be a little more helpful and refer the poster to a previous thread. Its much more helpful and would allow the member to settle in much better rather than making them think that other members are oagers confused

But they`re going to find out eventually !! lol

True, but we do have to let them settle in a bit first

Can't win with that though - from another (current) thread:
What does irk me are terse sarcy comments or just a link to something that was said ages ago. Posts old or new are what keep a forum going.
Surely timewasting threads are inevitable a) because there are a lot of timewasters on here and b) because people will often only post about something they feel strongly about or something that affects them?
It took me quite a while to start posting in the Forum as I found it quite daunting. I had been using other parts of the site, meeting folk, going to socials etc long before I started to post. So I have sympathy with new posters who start with a topic they feel has importance and relevance to them.
Posts come and go, and as has already been mentioned, they can be read or ignored by choice.
The more the merrier I say... posts that is, not timewasters! lol
