I will disagree with the wording in this ~ I can see the point that you are trying to make but abuse does not breed abuse. Whereas there are indications that being sexually abused may heighten a persons predisposition to abuse, but it is not inherrant, the person still makes a choice whether to act on that increased predisposition at which point they have to accept responsibility for their actions.

I totally agree. Decent people are capable of breaking the circle...or at least that is the line I`m comfortable with drawing in an increasingly grey area. I once watched a documentary about a guy whose sexual attraction was toward children only. He loathed himself, but couldn`t seem to shake the attraction. What he was capable of however, was recognising that the attraction was wrong, and as a result had never touched a child in his life.

we're forgetting though that this trial is in america and if you have money you can by your way out of terouble look at OJ enough said. chances are he'll get away with it

..not wishing to be controversial (who..me?!), but didn't the Feds get caught out fabricating and planting evidence in the OJ case...suddenly it then looks like the State have it in for a defendant and invariably they'll get off...think OJ had done in all his money by the time the trial came anyways smile
Same with Jacko now, he's skint, so it's going to be a fair trial as he can't afford to buy his way out this time.
I am not too sure Jacko is skint flapjackboy. he could sell one or two of his properties for $50M-$70M! That would hire Johnny Cochrane or one of those big boys who can manipulate the truth...just as they did in the OJ case. Or perhaps he could sell the rights to a few of the artists that he owns....another $30-$40M.
The man is a complete fruit-cake. An absolute musical genius, but as crazy as a loon!
I agree with the comments about the parents of the children involved. it seems to me that they are struck by money...they either think Jacko will buy their kids expensive gifts (which he does regularly) or he will pay them something to keep quiet. The parents should be looked at very closely....
I know this sounds ubelievable, but when you ready everyday about what some people are willing to do to their own children, it is not too far fetched to believe that people will put their children in harms way with Jacko with the intent of suing him for vasts amount of money in the future.
if you had a friend who came over to stay and he asked to sleep with your kids...."just because I never had a childhood myself and I like being around children" how would you react?
If it were my little boy...I would never allow him near the guy. it is hard enough protecting your children from people you don't know are a danger...let alone putting them near someone you do!
Sorry to be so closed minded on this one, but he makes my blood boil that fella! mad
BigDanny<<<<<<<<<<gets down from his high horse...
I am so glad i aint in the docks with half you muppets on the jury, since when did we hang someone without a trial?
You have to remember this is America, they would sue you for looking at them the wrong way there.
I bet if you told the parents that if he was found guilty there would be no money -no compensation payed they would disappear like lord lucan.

Errrmmmmmmmmmm
Did we just contradict ourselves there???????
The thing I always struggled to get my head round was... if you seriously thought your child was being abused, would you accept 'payment' to drop the case?!? I know as a parent I certainly wouldn't!!! mad
I think that this bloke does have a lot of problems that need to be dealt with, but the media have just taken the story and run with it.. there will be other sides and it should be left up to the courts to decide if he is guilty or not. If he is, then he should rot..... but if not, he'll still be hated by many and his life pretty much ruined.
At the end of the day, its only a big deal across the world because of who he is. I'm not going to defend him, but am not yet willing to condem him either.

I suppose that would depend where your values lay. If you thought there was a very good chance you would lose the case (and let`s face it, this is after OJ, and isJackson), and that the money offered would go a long way toward repairing your child`s life (get them through the best college, the best counselling etc) then yes, I think I understand why some parents would. I`m not saying it`s an option I would chose, I`m not that materialistic, just playing devil`s advocate and offering a different perhaps workable point of view.
