What do you reckon is the best radio station??
which one is you preferred station for listening to?
do you stick with one or have different ones for different uses/moods/situations?
just curious as I am friends with a DJ from Radio Exeter on facebook and i often listen in to him when hes working, and it got me to thinking about the differences between local radio and things like radio 1....personality and listenability wise.
personally im not to fond of the radio, but if i do HAVE to listen to it, it will be on a long journey and be local radio......but I cant stand all their ads with the annoying jingles on em mad :x :x :x
The one and only........ Rock FM... Especially Adam at breakfast... he has me in stitches every morning lol
I can't listen to commersial radio - the adverts annoy the hell out of me. Radio 1 for music and Five live if there's a match on.

Since I've been off work I don't listen to the radio but when I'm at work it varies throughout the day depending on the DJ LOL
It generally goes onwards either Wogan or Moyles (depending on how busy I am), then Jo Wiley then a short amount of local radio and then Steve Wright ... so I guess primarily Radio 2 at work ... only Radio 1 or the ipod in the car and never at home
Radio 5 live from 9am straight through to 7pm,then turn to radio 2 from 8pm mark Radcliffe and Steve Maconie,
friday -7pm bbc4 the one show but when simon Mayo is on holiday i switch to bbc4 drama
saturday from sports commentary on 5 live,Allan Green and Stuart Hall rocks!
I can never take Stuart Hall's comentary seriously, he sounds like he's watching a pantomime half the time biggrin

Real Radio......when travelling up North. It has a great set of 80's music.
Local radio, Trent FM, when going to and from work

Hear hear H-x I can't stand all the ads for double glazing and the narrow minded playlists of stations like are hundreds of thousands of tracks to pick from in the history of popular music, and loads of current artists with great things out but they have the same few boring songs on rotation!

I find that with Radio 1 and 2 as well. At least on the Steve Wright show you can submit some Oldies!

I listen to Magicfm and if it goes abit crappy I switch over to Heart. smile
I love Classic FM, I have it on the pc while I'm typing on here.
Used to like Jazz FM too, before they took it off.
Four
lp
Don't normally listen to radio, but when I do it's Radio 2 if I'm off up the motorway or travelling any distance (though most of the time I prefer my iPod).
Or if I'm at home I occasionally listen to BBC 7 on Freeview for the classic comedy. I used to listen to it all the time but now only infrequently.
i listen to radio 1 .... luv the music and the chat and most of the DJs
gary doesnt like chris moyles tho so dont have that show on when hes around but put local commercial radio on for a while altho i hate the adverts but it is good for travel and weather
i also listen to local bbc radio for sport coverage and sometimes 5 live

Oooo what's the frequency? I like the sound of that one.
I'm a Galaxy Gal cool
I tend to have my own music on mostly but when I do listen it's either Kerrang radio or Nation FM ( local station ) which tends to play more rock and indie than the usual shite.
We used to have a local rock channel called XFM but they got taken over by Nation
Radio 1 in the day but of an evening, Heart
5 Live for me, push button commercial repeat play radio is dreadful, the only proper DJ's are on BBC Radio, I have a liking for Mark Lamaar, Stuart Maconie, but the best radio Programme is Bob Dylan's radio hour.
5 live or radio 1 in the morning.... radio 2 during the day...........then radio 5 again for drivetime and evenings....
but I am more of a "podcaster" these days.... so if i get spare time I listen to those........
anyone want to swop podcast program tips ..... please pm me lol
Radio 2 mainly when i am at home cool and now and again when in the shower in the evening either Arrow Rock or Century FM if, i am behind Busty in the shower :evil2:
Local radio (Beacon) when at home
Heart when at work
Radio 2 or sometimes Smooth FM in the car
didnt smooth used to be saga ?
really cant stand that station
nor steve wright on radio 2 .... makes me cringe!!
when im in the car travelling from job to job i listen to a combination of heart, mercia and radio 1, i change over when the ads come on
I like Radio four. There's a rich variety of plays, current affairs, history, comedy, nature programmes. Wonderful stuff. "In our Time" and "The Long View" are particular favourites of mine.
Radio 2 gal here, Sarah Kennedy on my way to work withher paper review and Steve Wright on the way home with his 'factoids'(depending on the traffic). During the day, I tend to flip between stations while Im driving, and only because a Radio 2 listener as it was the only station which didnt lose signal when travelling over the 'Snake Pass' each morning confused

It depends on the mood if honest. If I want to listen to current affairs then I listen to Talk Sport.
If I want to listen to a programme that talks about sport, then I listen to Talk Sport.
If I want to listen to a good old rant, then I listen to Gaunty on Talk Sport. lol
If I want to listen to music I listen to ................. Heart.
Gotta be 4 for documentaries, dramas, the Now Show and the News Quiz when on and of course the sublime and much missed Humph on ISIHAC....and the Archers redface
Radio 2 for Wogan in the morning once I've had my news fix and/or if I hear that there's going to be a Janet & John story on. ( Also if I get too mad at John Humphries getting rude with his interviewees! )
Also 2 for Ask Elvis and the Big Quiz ( sadly no more since the phone in scandals ) on Steve Wright.
I also happen to adore Stuart Maconie (who I think is going to be the next John Peel, if he could ever be replaced) and Mark Radcliffe.
Strange, because it is down to John Peel that I started one of my fave hobbies, geocaching, when I heard about it on Home Truths, and as it turns out Stuart Maconie is into walking/hiking and has previously mentioned geocaching on his show and articles.
OK, I'll shut up now as I'm sure thats shown me up quite enough for the geek I am!!
