I think its sufficient for my needs to pay a couple of quid at the door but I really wouldn't want to see an organiser out of pocket in anyway.
I have no problem with paying money for a night out, you have to wherever you go in most cities and I'd rather spend a night out in the company of like minded individuals where the atmosphere is 100 times better than that of a city centre night club.

If its something REALLY different which involves an extra cost and it appeals to us, yes we'd pay. Trying to think what might be "different", well a bouncy castle foam party with a jelly and cream food fight afterward could work! lol

But plain and simple socials are just as much fun. For instance, few months back went to a small social / munch on Teeside, just a hired room in a pub, no dj, no buffet, but we had an absolutly great time. Glass went round to pay for the room.
Vicky's NW Munch in Feb and the Wigan Munches, DJ, very small contribution required, but again great time.
So I think what we're trying to say is; if people are organising something, don't be "Beverley Hills" and try and out-do the one before, plain and simple works as well as it always has.

I agree with above quote; even some pubs in southampton charge £5 (fri sat nights) at the door just to get in, thats before you see if its worth staying for a few beers expensive night out.
so yes i would rather pay up front to a like minded social meet knowing the peeps there are on the same wave lenght cool
