I..........
Germaine Greer once quoted something like
"use the word C*** sparingly as it is the only word left in the English language that still has the ability to shock!"
I.........color]
Germaine also said it is a good Germanic lol wood. It is the way it is used that makes it offencive.
Claim the word back, use it correctly.
As are a lot of words in the English language the origins are found in others. It still is, in the Enhlish language.
Though I agree that it is emphasis and the manner in which swearing is used that determins its effect, as in a lot of things. Personally if someone called me a c*** een in the most affectionate way??? i think i would be at least mildly upset.
As to claiming the word back ?? why.

Just because I am proud of my heritage. The word is English, always was English, being handed down to us from our long Germanic past. The word is only offencive because it is used offensively. It is after all just the name given to a small area of the body, just like ass.

I'm going to have to admit to using the C word fairly regularly.

Ditto, sometimes it's the only word that will do lol

For example when you spill wine on the carpet "oh you cunty bastard".

One of my faves :giggle:
Admittedly, I never use it in front of my kids ( although they have heard some fruity stuff during times of road rage redface ) and my mum would give me a clip if I used it in front of her. I don't find it especially offensive, I mean it's just a word used to describe female genitalia/or as an offensive noun.
If it is only a 'word' to describe female genatalia or as an offensive noun - then why would you keep it from your kids in times of road rage confused
While I don't find it particularly offensive, it's not the kind of word one's children should overhear, because children have an uncanny knack of repeating forbidden words in the wrong company, eg Headmistresses, grandparents etc.. Just because I think the word is acceptable in adult company does not mean I will be rushing to teach it to my children ;)

If it's handed down from our Germanic past, how is it English?
From:

'This word for the female genitalia dates back to the Middle English period, It’s exact origin is unknown, but is related to the Old Norse kunta, a word with cognates in several other Germanic languages. From the Proverbs of Hendyng, a manuscript from sometime before 1325: Ȝeue þi cunte…'
The only time I have ever used the C word is in very very horny sex when I'm directing my partner to do something, and it's part of a moment that is out of my control redface
Other than that you will never catch me using that word, and to be honest I very rarely use the F word either (although I could do a thing or two with the "F Word" host mmmmm cool )
