All of the above sounds good to me, but seeing as summers on its way (well I keep telling myself that). A perfect evening for me would be a BBQ in the evening sun, some music in the background, a few drinks, a few laughs and carry it on into the night. Everyone feeling comfortable and getting to know each other, with friends old and new.

I have to apologise for this but its the mood i'm in - What about an evening playing naked - mixed Pool doubles :!: !! With 20 people and £100 first rounds on me!
Ok rather than the previous crappy reply i gave (The Mrs shot me a hard stare).
For me a nice evening would be 8/10 people in comfy surroundings eating really really good chocolates and drinking the best of coffee talking - Would have to be swingers for guests though because in company they just talk so freely. Which is so refreshing to me.
Warm sun, BBQ, quiet music, good company, people we know or have chatted to lots, tents with plenty of space between them and maybe a thunderstorm wink

I have a few different sets of friends.. one set is the Friday night gang, food drinks and dirty laughs , the other group is the drinkies girls at the local and once a month I do "ladies who lunch" with another set. My fav has to be the first one tho, it's a joggers and lying on the floor night! lol

I'd hire a barge on the canal.........invite some good friends.........we'd all dress up as pirates, before going off along the canal and then mooring up for the night somewhere where we could have a BBQ and campfire.....and just sit out all night enjoying good company and the night time air. lol

oh yes i have a thing about canal boats.
august 2005 friends 40th birthday he hired a boat on the thames bar downstairs up top. he had his and friends decks set up and we cruised towards marlow drinking and dancing passing all these multi million pound houses, really warm night bliss fun. playing after that would have blown me away.

Oooh yes - a thunderstorm at a BBQ, when you're so bladdered on Special Brew all u can think is, "Isnt this WONDERFUL!" then you walk home and fall over in the gutter and break your glasses and ... oh. Thats just me, then lol

Would you like karaoke with that? :giggle:

You know what I think I might lol

Erm.... can I come, I'll just eat and then go away again!!! That sounds fabulous!!!

You can come and eat, but you have to stay and sing on the Karaoke as well now :giggle:
The other thing I've always wanted to do, but I think is a bit over budget for the £100 pound, would be to hire a log cabin for the weekend.
Similar sort of format, but a smaller group of friends all sitting round an open log fire in the winter eating, drinking and chatting.
I'd be doing the cooking for that one though as I don't think we'd be taking the BBQ with us and it might be a bit cold outside wink
lol log cabin was my initial idea.... but, I cant find one unless its very up in the Scottish Highlands or in the middle of centreparcs with lots of families as neighbours or costs an absolute fortune.:scared:
My ideal one would probably be a holiday cottage (as I cant do it at home)..stone built, inglenook fireplace in a big room with lots of big fat squashy sofas covered in fur throws and conversation flowing along with the wine  and lost of rooms or 'nooks' where people can simply slip off to, and no one breathes a word of it come daylight
ooohhhh now that does sound like fun!

I found some log cabins in Yorkshire when I was looking at something like that for my sisters hen weekend.....I'll have a trawl later and see if I can find them for ya...... smile
I love logs cabins! there's quite a few down our end of the country Dark! What date shall I book it for and will that be just the 3 of us or is everyone coming confused:
Yep that sounds fantastic Dark!
Exactly my kinda thing. Throw in a hot tub too and I'm happy! biggrin

fabulous Kate , thankyou
problem is, the idea behind the thread was really to see who might be interested in something similar to what I had in mind.... who might be posible invitees...and for others to post their ideas and see who else's 'ideal evening' might be along the same lines - hence, a piss poor attempt at getting people together and thinking about 'potentials & possibilities' (despite the current climate). I fear I am wasting my bloody time though tbh.
PM me the details if you can find them though hun, a can feel a weekend break for 2 coming on anyway rolleyes lol
oh bloody hell, NOW people start posting once I put my foot right in it in the time it takes to write a post and not hit preview before submitting lol

I'm surew the ones I was looking at had hut tubs too.......hang on I'll see if I can find them....... smile
a hot tub with you sexy ladies ohh think i might have died and gone to heaven
err swinging heaven :giggle:
I was looking awhile back for something along the same lines, i did manage to find 4 holiday cottages together with a hot tub and private gardens but the owners accomadation was far far too close for comfort. wasnt exactly cheap either
My house would be great for a get together but the inhabitants prevent it,russ's house is just too small. We even thought one drunken night about trying to pack everyone in my house off for a weekend......but cant find anyone mad enough to take em lol
But in essence is a great idea
Had a look at adult only accomadation also but they dont like noise after 10pm in most places  ,i think i must have got the pensioner accomadation biggrin
My ideal evening with friends new and old would be a nice cosy relaxed enviroment, with lots of laughs, lots of this vodka jelly i keep hearing about, buffet style food, music and discretion. Would be a invite only i think too,tho cant make my mind fully up on that one.

We've actually been looking at holiday cottages in Scotland for a long weekend (3 or 4 nights) and there are some that sleep up to twelve. The prices do look quite high but not when you divide it by the number of occupants and the number of nights. Most of them are in their own grounds too (or at least a good distance away from others) when they are that size. Given a good mix of people, it could be a very enjoyable weekend.

I've got one with an indoor pool here, and outdoor hot-tub with no overlooking neighbours etc - its perfect. The price however is not :scared:
back to the drawing board then rolleyes cant we just go claim squatters rights in a castle or sommat? lol
