Occasionally, the gates are closed on Great Lime Road to vehicles, then you can still access the parking and woods by driving to the far side of the park and entering through the A1 entrance near the Border Minstrel pub.

Mandela Way woods nr Metrocentre train station

Vast area of bushes and dense woodland on wasteland to the northwest of Mandela Way, Gateshead. Coming from Metrocentre station, as Mandela Road bends, there is a grass bank with a path, go through here onto the runway past the tyres and explore the woods. Completely secluded and hidden away. Lots of fucking in the woods in the afternoons. Sometimes busy, sometimes quiet. Less than 60 seconds walk from the layby parking on Mandela Way.

There is plenty of parking along Mandela Way towards Metrocentre station, alternatively you could park at CostCo or at the station, or come on foot from the railway station.

Afternoons, evenings, all days of the week.

Park in the layby next to the abandoned motorhome or at any of the spots along Mandela Way. Leave the car and walk north along Mandela Way for 60 seconds (away from the Metrocentre but towards Costco). At the point the road bends to the right, there's a grass bank with a well-worn path on the left (GPS: 54.961444, -1.663782). Take that path and you are now on the runway with the woods and bushes stretching as far as the eye can see.

At the far end of the runway, there is a wild grassy spot where you could strip off.

Anything goes. You can't be seen in the bushes and woods. But as always, be discreet and respectful. The area is rarely used by anyone other than guys looking to fuck.

This area is completely wild and overgrown, consequently there is some broken glass, burnt tyres and rubbish. However, the area is safe and growing in popularity now that the Arena has been demolished.

Cross Lane woods

A 35,000 m² area of wild, secluded bushes and woods. Park in the layby where Cross Lane and Wellington Road meet [https://w3w.co/drank.music.care]. Behind the layby, walk past boulders for 20 seconds up track. On right hand side, look for a pink flag tied to a tree [https://w3w.co/patio.slips.paid]. Go up the slope through the bushes onto a hidden path which runs straight for over 200 metres. Explore either side of path a vast area of woods and bushes and hundreds of tracks. The place is completely hidden and only used by guys and doggers looking to fuck; some guys cruise naked or in underwear, have seen a dogging couple with the girl wearing a dominatrix outfit. Lots of areas for naked sunbathing. The land is overgrown and vast, fenced in with no other entrances.

Shy guys/girls can park in the 10,000 capacity free-of-charge car park at Marks and Spencer on St Michaels Way, cross the road and hook a right onto a cycle path and then a left. This brings you in the back, more discreet way (https://w3w.co/wicked.buzz.robot followed by https://w3w.co/lifts.deck.evenly)

Only daylight. Busy mornings, afternoons and early evenings, at all times of the year. The ever-popular Mandela Way is only 10 minutes away by foot via Handy Drive or by car via St Omer's Road.

There is only one way in: the slope into the trees marked by the pink flag at GPS: 54.954696, -1.659902

Once up the slope, you are surrounded by wilderness.

Historically, the land was earmarked for development in the 1990s but the project was not approved, so the whole area has been abandoned and is not used by anyone. Its secluded nature means this is a wild cruising zone.

Any form of sexual activity is strictly prohibited by the main road and on the track but once inside the bushes and on the 200-metre path, you can fuck.
