Actually, if it's up in LMU, billed as a Social and open to site members generally then it is everybody's business whether you like it or not, and folk are entitled to voice their oppinion on it.
£10 per head is way over the odds - I certainly would be expecting something pretty spectacular for that price tbh and while you & others from the chatroom might not agree & be happy to pay over the odds for an exclusive, cliquey little doo, most people reading this might stop to think that this kind of door charge is just not the done thing & will always raise questions - Nor is the 'if you're not from our area' crap :dry: You couldnt get further from the site definition of Munch or Social if you tried - and its showing
Personally, I'd drop the buffet & keep your costs down, or do the food yourself - but that's already been suggested, or arrange drinkies before the social, somewhere where folk can grab a bite to eat beforehand and not be ripped off. Sometimes you cant avoid room hire fees and right now I dont think its that £75 for the right venue thats the issue.

The film itself is shite imo Winchy - Clooney & Bro need to get over the border to Mexico...hijack a family en route in order to use their camper van as transport...stop off at a bikers watering-hole en route and discover that the inhabitants, including the beautiful Salma are vampires. Cue rest of film spent fighting said creatures with makeshift weapons & a few funny scenes that are meant to be a bit gorey but arnt

I take back everything i said about the 'crap snow' yesterday - am eating my words now, we've got a white-out :bounce: :bounce: 4+ inches of snow and its still coming :bounce: :bounce: Daughter is out on the street with Mr Dark in a 20 strong mob of kids and parents having a snowball fight, and I'll have a JD by the log fire in the corner please :thumbup:
its definately snowing here now - has been since lunchtime, roads are trecherous as its slushy and wet then freezing , but not settling as thick snow :sad: , if you see what I mean :lol2:

Its suposed to be the worst snow all winter....its suposedto be here for days....even the borough council has been round filling the grit bins :shock: - credit to em mind, they actually gritted my road last night for the first time in 6 years :shock:
I've spent the morning making stew and dumplings and homemade broths for Mr Dark's work flask AND had big plans for this afternoon
I was in 24 hour supermarket buying hats and gloves last night at stupid o'clock, and feel a right tit for doing this thread Its not exactly the worst snow we've ever seen is it? Severe weather warning my arse!
No-one's yet said their power is out etc...so, was it all made out to be alot worse than it is? or have the amenities companies etc finally come up with a weather contingency plan that works?
I think we will - but this isnt it ....and you're right about children - I let my daughter watch the news reports etc and got her all excited about how we might get snowed in like Mommy did many moons ago ..she's going to look at me like some kind of complete fool later and i know exactly what's coming: "Mum, is this it????, but you said...." ..:scared:

was listening to radio this morning and local radio was making a huge deal out of the list of schools closed around here - stats on how many gritters had been out etc - like some kind of military operation - its where I stole the thread title from :idea: & they'd even done a jingle to big up the impending grinding-to-a-halt status of the area! proper made me :giggle:
