I've organised several fundraisers through work - and by far the best was the 'pledge auction'
you get folk you know to donate their time/ skills/ help rather than goods (or, in addition to)
a mate has a horse, so she pledged 3 x 1 hour riding lessons to the highest bidder...... other lots included stuff like 2 big burly blokes for DIY, clearing & gardening services for 1 whole weekend (winning bid on that was £500 inc skip hire and they fulfilled the promise :bounce: :bounce
.....A personal Taxi driver (two way trip into town driven there & back by someone who pledged their car, 3 seats and driving skills plus optional cheesy 80's disco CD en route = £30) .............ironing lady by the hour (that was very popular ) ...we even had a real Fireman up for grabs, who pledged to do any househld job for 3 hours,in full uniform (£80 :shock plus lots of stuff donated by local businesses - day trip out, meal for 2, makeovers and cut & blow dry at classy salon....even a mate who's a doorman pledged his services as a 'personal bodyguard' for the evening & escorted 2 of my friends to a bar and acted (oscar winning performance) like they were A list film stars all night
overall, that particular auction (over 100 lots of pledges and goods) raised over 2 grand :thumbup: You'd probably need to do it locally, call in a few favours, resort to blackmail and publicise it loads, but it worked well and was loads of fun, especially the bidding frenzy over the Fireman and the Prada handbag with matching shoes :mrgreen:

I'm pretty big on being straight with people, and although I know this is not meant to be anythng to do with the BB thing.... but..... as we have seen (or as is being suggested) sometimes it may be the case that the 'bully' doesnt realise they're doing it and need to be told (preferably by the 'victim' or person who feels they're a victim). Unless it comes straight from the horses mouth it doesnt matter what other people think, imo, because everyone's perception is different, and its the person who feels they're being bullied that counts

I love that proper munch bubble feeling....the planning, the panic stations, the phoning hotels and its engaged and you just know its because the hotel list's gone out and its one of our lot hogging the line also booking a room I like the 'what are you wearing?' conversations, the making of the 'people I must speak to' list, the texts on the Saturday morning saying 'are you fookin up yet? ' and a bit later... 'right we're off, see you there! ' I once had one that reflected the military planning behind it all saying 'en route to destination, ETA 2.5 hours' - cracked me up and had me giggling like a girl all the way there 
I dont get nervous anymore - which is a far cry from my first social where I had to call the organiser from the carpark and get her to come get me but maybe the adrenaline from running round my house searching for lost munch clothes, sticking vodka jelly in the freezer cos its not set yet & jumping on the holdall to get it fastened, reaching panic stations after getting lost en route for the 3rd time or trying to beat the clock and not be late as usual masks it well
i do get a bit apprehensive as to whether anyone's gonna talk to me or not though (its a fickle world) and tend to spend a fair bit of the night propping up the bar on me tod until someone either takes pity on me or I'm in thier face saying 'so, who are you then?'
The worst bit about munches is the morning after - semi-comatose funny colour people attempting to eat breakfast, the mad hunt for coffee and room-raiding for supplies throwing shoes in the car swearing never to wear them again & the journey home when your liver positively hates you and your feet (and other bits, depending on what you got up to afterwards :twisted feel like they got run over by a 10 ton truck
