Must be a right dangerous place, with all these baddies :shock:
Never had any trouble there, I remember someone being killed at the Goose Fair, and I thought that area was a bit dodgy. Around the Town hall at weekends, always seemed to have a few fights. It wouldn't put me of going though. No different to Leicester etc.

There are no rites of passage to really progress from child to man, which perhaps not a good thing 
So some younger males may not know in which category they fit.

Good luck on your fundraising, and training
Not sure if I'm telling granny to suck eggs here,
but a bit of advice.
If you haven't got the boots your going to wear on your Trek, get them soon and break them in. Otherwise your feet will suffer. Also do some hill walking, again otherwise your legs and back will suffer.

If your having better luck on another site, why come and whinge in here:
I've not had a problem, a lot of single guys I know have not had a problem.
Try a nicer introduction, and some ladies might think your a nice guy, not another ranter.
The main problem single guys have, is there's a lot of them out there. So if they tried a bit harder in presentation, and attitude, maybe they wouldn't need to complain so much.
A final tip, the search button is your friend, because this topic has been covered loads of times before.

Good on you for organising a social
I jumped in at the deep end, and organised a meet, without going to a Munch before hand, very scary, but very worthwhile :D
As has been said, you will need to fix a date asap, to get people along. Otherwise in the meantime, folks will organise themsleves to go elsewhere, and then not be able to make your social.
There are still a few experienced Munch organisers here, and they are a great bunch, with lots of useful tips.
There's quite a few members in your area, so I reckon you would get a good turn out, and not just you and six males
