I bought our work one today... it's about eight feet and it cost from Homebase.
I bought a fake one a few years ago... mainly cause I'd left it so late to get one and it cost me about £80. It's a real lookylikey and is pre-lit. No needle drop, stick it back in the box and fire it in the loft for next year. Only now I can't find it and my folks are away so I'm going for a last look in their loft tomorrow before I go buy a real one! lol

I just went out to my parent's house... they're on holiday and the next door neighbours have very kindly cleared their own drive and dumped all the snow onto my folks drive! rolleyes
Yeah... so there's no danger my car is going out there this weekend... cheers for that!
Tossers! I'm going to bus it out there and then clear the drive and dump all the snow at the end of their driveway!

Also... on the radio this morning they said that you should clear the snow off the roof of your car as well. £60 fine and 3 points if you haven't and you get caught! I didn't know that.

There is no specific law about snow on your roof but I think they use a round about one where if the snow and ice falls off and hits a pedestrian or another vehicle user and obscures their vision.............or summat like that. There may be someone who actually knows what they are talking about can clear this up lol

How does the poor old lorry driver who has a big accumulation of it on the roof of his trailer (some 14ft up) get on then ?
Dunno... but I've just been out for a ciggie and a white van went past with a mohichan!! :giggle:

The Radio Times... bizarre but we only ever got it at Christmas time so I've sort of continued that tradition. I'm on my own this year so I think since I'm not having my mum's cheesecake, I might make one of my own! lol

Excellent - it sounds incredibly cosy.

Think Paddington! :giggle:
We have about six inches in Edinburgh. It's not been this bad since I've lived in town. I managed to hop a bus on the way home only to be thrown off again when the driver decided he wasn't going any further. Fair enough... I did a childish slide on the black ice all the way down the hill! lol
My mum bought me a cashmere duffle coat when I started working way back when I was 17. It lasted me through every winter till I was 32 until finally it was well and truly done! I searched high and low to find one to replace it. No luck.
Yesterday... I decided, in my search for a winter coat (a little late since the snow has arrived in style!), to google the make and found the identical coat on ebay! Tonight I came home on a mission to win the coat! It was meant for me!
And I did!! The coat is mine and on its way to me from a lovely lady in Newcastle! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
It's made me sooooooooooooo happy!
Good for you Bouncy... whichever way works for you works for you. Glad you're feeling better for it. I've done it this year too and I've shifted three and a half stone (although I'm slacking a bit now - it's harder to be motivated when it's so cold and dark and miserable) with diet and exercise. It is hard. You need willpower and determination regardless of how you do it. Thanks for sharing!
