I think this is an urban myth, but as I'm not 100% sure will wait for others to confirm or bust it.

Some "clubs" have smoking rooms......I have heard.
And some pubs have been known to let people smoke in some parts of the pub.......I have also heard.
None smoker myself and used to hate the smell of smoke on my clothes in the morning, but do think its killing some pubs off.
On the other hand as Shel is a smoker she finds it easy to chat to the fellow addicts either at pubs or clubs.

There is one, quite nice, apart from the women all seemed to not bother with dressing up. All patrons looked like they had just come from work. They sat around for a while, all got naked and had a big free for all orgy!!
Its a fair taxi ride out of town and not easy to spot even when your parked outside. If you want to try it pm us for details.

Sometimes we wonder if its worth putting loads of effort into crafting a profile / advertisiment. Doesn't seem to have done us much good, mind as softswingers we know we won't appeal to all people.
We like to see a well written / humourous advert / profile, gives a clue to the sort of person your getting in contact with. Even if the advert is for a person(s) we have no chance of meeting, other end of Country for instance we often drop them a pm just saying how good the profile / ad is.
Could also be that the photos on DGs (and others) are just too good? People look and think, "wow, dead nice, but out of my league?" Perhaps dumbing down the ad and some "deaths door" photos will bring a better response?

Flown with EasyJet and Jet2, no real problems with either. Its cheap and gets us there so no worries!!
On principle won't go with Ryanair.

I had two part time jobs at the same time, one was artistic director in a lap-dancing joint, the other was training dolphins at an aquarium. Both jobs took up a lot of time and of course was partying hard as well.
It all went wrong one day when the stress got too much and I was throwing haddock at the lap dancers and trying to dress dolphins in lingerie......ah happy days!!!
John.
Coffee is the offical drink of the Devil!!!
Only had two (part) cups in my life, hate even the smell of it, can't walk close to those places that have coffee beans on show.
Tea, Tea, gimmie Tea!!
John
Can't see anything wrong with that profile, says what your like, what you want etc. Should work fine!!

Well if the Doctors say he is no longer a threat then by all means release him.......as long as he is lodged with the family(s) of said Doctors and is allowed to baby-sit their children / grandchildren.
If the Doctors don't like this idea, then perhaps he's not really cured after all??

Just comparing the story below about Ronnie Biggs with the one further down about one of the Bankers (rythming slang) who caused the present crisis. While not condoning what Ronnie and his mates did (also aware one person died because of the great train robbery), I'd suggest as well as financial hardship there will be a lot of suicides caused by the stress of un-employment etc.
So, I'd ask, should Ronnie be freed and Fred the Shred invited to spend some time in Ronnies old cell?
Biggs was sentenced to 30 years for his role in a 15-strong gang who robbed a Glasgow to London mail train near Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire, on August 8, 1963.
The gang made off with in used banknotes.
Biggs, now nearly 80, managed to escape from Wandsworth prison in a furniture van after just 15 months in jail.
He returned to Britain voluntarily after having plastic surgery to change his appearance and spending more than 30 years on the run in Spain, Australia and then Brazil.
He was imprisoned in Belmarsh high security jail in south east London and then transferred to a unit at Norwich jail.
Last year, Biggs' lawyer, Giovanni Di Stefano, headed a campaign to release him early, stating that the time he spent in prison abroad should be counted against his sentence.
He described Biggs as "a seriously ill man who has suffered three strokes, he cannot go to the toilet on his own, he should have been released long ago".
Biggs is described as "comfortable" and is expected to return to prison next week.

Months after RBS acquired NatWest, and Sir Fred "shredded” 18,000 jobs, the bank acquired a £17.5 million private jet. The Falcon 900 EX had the registration "G-RBSG", which insiders joked stood for "Royal Bank of Scotland Goodwin". It cost £9,000 an hour to run and carried only eight passengers. RBS is selling the jet.
- During ten years at RBS, Sir Fred made 26 acquisitions. This financial year, RBS is expected to report a loss of £28 billion, the biggest loss in UK corporate history.
- For the opening ceremony for the bank’s new £350 million headquarters in Edinburgh, Sir Fred arranged an RAF fly-past.
- In response to the Government's £20 billion bailout of RBS in October 2008, when he was forced to resign, Sir Fred said: "You know, it's more a drive-by shooting than a negotiation."
- A well-known "petrolhead", Sir Fred enjoys restoring vintage cars and drives a 1972 Triumph Stag convertible. He will now be able to enjoy his passion, after remarking when he resigned from the rescued bank: “A good long rest is the first order of priority”.
- On leaving RBS last year, it emerged that Sir Fred had a pension pot worth £8 million. The Government was forced to bail out the bank for £20 billion of taxpayers' money.

You can't just not show up!! Thats terrible, you at least should make every effort to say your not going to be there.

Totally agree with you Varca, I just have no reference point when it comes to cruelty to animals or people. Literally I cannot understand the thought processes in their heads.
I think its been proved that people who are cruel to animals when they are children are very likely to commit violence against other, weaker, people when they grow up.

Could you put us on the list as possibles please. See how we carefully avoided the use of the word "down"?

Interesting aside in one of the papers today;
Why don't we ditch the present incumbants of the Palace of Westminster and bring in some foriegn natioanls who will presumably do the job better and cheaper??
All in favour say Aye!!!!

Some of the replies on this thread have been..........interesting...to say the least.
But, especially to Resonance, I asked in an earlier post, for people who disagree that there should be a limit on population increase.
What is your figure for the maximum population for this country?
John
I'll stick my neck out and say that they are correct!!!!
Think what the population of China would be now, if the Government there had not introduced a one child policy. OK they did it in a very draconian way, but they recognised the problems of over population and acted on it.
The more people you have with the same resources, such as water and food, then literally some people will be fighting over those resources.
How many people can our little Island support? 60 million? 70 million? 80 million? Where will you build the houses, get the water from, put the waste??
So, one question for people who disagree, give a maximum figure for the population of Great Brition that you think is supportable.

Lucy, in this case, the contract was put out to competitive tendering, and the French owned oil giant at the centre of the row presumably found that an Italian company could do the work more cheaply than any of the British companies that bid, even though those foreign workers now employed have to be afforded the same minimal standards for pay and conditions that apply to home-grown British employees of British companies. The real problem is not foreign workers, it's that for whatever reason presumably the British companies that bid were unable to compete.

Sorry Neil, thats the top and bottom of the problem, there have been a couple of European Court rulings which mean that workers "posted" to other EU Countries only need to be paid the rate pertaining in their home country. So if the Italians are on £3 an hour at home thats what they get here. Hence why the foriegn companies can under cut British Companies, lower labour costs.
This will shortly not be so likely to happen as the weakness of the pound is meaning that it now much more expensive for foriegn companies to tender for work here.

First saw this "begging on a train touch" in Paris about mid-90s, not many French gave anything!!
At the same time in Paris there was a load of what appeared to be Romany women (usually with very small children with them) selling little bags full of flour with faces painted on them. Still begging but with a "retail" angle. We were told to look out for the "leader of the pack" who was invariably a man who watched over the women and when they had got a bit of cash he came and "emptied the tills".
Soon got the hang of spotting these characters.
While we were sitting in a cafe, one of these women with young child came round begging. We bought some little cakes and biscuits for the child then watched as the woman walked away muttering and put the cakes and biscuits in the nearest bin!!

So the silicone has melted eh Dave???
Give it another couple of weeks and the upvc frames will have gone as well and how would you explain that??
RUN DAVE, RUN WHILE YOU CAN!!!

I was looking at the prices of ebook downloads today and was surprised to find that they are very nearly as expensive as an actual book!!
Don't understand that. Surely nearly all books these days are written on PC? Therefore they are already in an electronic format, easily converted, I would assume, to an ebook download.
With an ebook there are no materials required, ink, paper or bindings. No printing process, no storage and distribution costs, no shelf space, so how come ebooks are not way cheaper than ordinary books? No carbon footprint!!!!
And talking about Libaries, wonder if they will set up to issue timelimited ebook downloads?
You could connect to your e-libary via the internet, pay a nominal fee perhaps and download a book which will only last on your machine for say three weeks?
When you think about it, its got to be the future, say your living in Eygpt, you want the latest Chris Ryan. Guess you'd have to order it specially, wait for it to be delivered. Not with ebooks, just suck it straight off the net. No problems!
John
Often when looking at peoples adverts on this site we see the phrase "please don't write, "we like your profile...please have a look at ours""
Which infers that the people placing the ad expect you to write a detailed description about yourselves when you answer their ad.
Fine if there is next to nothing in your profile, but we spent a fair bit of time trying to get our profile right. We think it describes what we are looking for, what our build is and other relevant stuff.
So what should we do? Copy and paste our profile into a reply? But then the photos would not be shown.
Think when we do an ad it will say "if you don't have a comprehensive profile, please describe yourselves fully......at least two pages of A4 are required"
