One for the petrol heads
Here's ours - the Morgan Eva GT. At £70k it's a snip...

What's yours....?

Well after last Friday's social where ALL the people without SHrep's failed to attend or offer any form of apology - The future ones we arrange will be SHrep active only and will only be confirmed on the list when the Meetrep has been accepted.

And so it begins.......
Not having a dig at you personally GU .....
Understand that Steve and I can see your point. Unfortunately, (as usual) 'a few' spoil it for the many. It's not a point we ever wanted to reach either. As we now have SHrep as a 'tool' (for good or bad), we might as well see if it's of any use when arranging socials etc.
After looking at the stats for the socials we've hosted this year:-
Members pre-2005 - 23 requests - 19 attended.
Members post-2005 - 197 requests - 43 attended.
Post SHrep social
Members pre-2005 - 2 requests - 2 attended
Members post-2005 - 32 requests - 12 attended
The analysis:
Pre-2005 members are more reliable but only form a small percentage of attendees.
(and they usually know about it without being on the formal list)
The highest proportion of non-attendees are the 6 months - 1 year old members (we don't approve any new - 6mth members to a socials).
From an organisers point of view
We're selecting venues and basing costs on the expectation of numbers attending. If 60% don't bother to attend this increases the costs on those that do go to cover any fixed costs, knackers any catering estimates, for people attending their first social it leaves a lasting reflection of people's reliability and it's hard work trying to convince them to attend a 2nd or 3rd event. Without 'new blood' it either becomes a 'clique' group or eventually dies through lack of interest.

No point in trying to put your point across GU, as I tried then just got bombarded with questions over OUR choice for meets.
Our criteria is not to everyone's liking.....so what?

Couldn't agree more Kenty
In one of those 'eureka' moments -
Forum is a waste of time/space/effort.
Chatroom is full of :bs:
Socials are a waste of time.
SHrep doesn't work.
We don't use 'ads'
etc, etc,
What's the point of being a member here..................

I wouldn't be interested in attending a social where that was the deal. People have not been turning up for socials forever. Shit happens. It's annoying, rude, bad manners, inconvenient and all sorts of other things. However, don't judge everyone who doesn't use a verification system as being a timewaster. If I say I'm going to be somewhere then I'm there. I don't let people down. I don't not turn up. I communicate.
If you stipulate that you don't allow non-Shrep users to attend your socials then you've just ruled out at least three women in this thread from attending. Single females... rocking horse shit? You've just made the rocking horse constipated! wink
Been here long enough to know shite happens, been here long enough not to tar everyone with the same brush - and yes "it's annoying, rude, bad manners, inconvenient and all sorts of other things". It's just time for a change to reduce the 'risk' element and see if it provides the organisers with some confidence that all the effort that goes into arranging these things is worth it! Otherwise we'll stop arranging them and we'll go back to the usual "nothing ever happens on here" syndrome.
34 on the list - 20 no-shows (why do we bother?)

i dont have shrep acctivated, nor will i ever do so.
does this mean i will not get people messaging me for meets? i dont care as if im looking "Im" looking im not the hunted i prefer to be the hunter lol
would shrep influence my desision on meeting someone or not? nope. why not well because i would have to get a feeling for someone , not rely on what could be someone elses judgement.
in fact if i look at the quickies etc and see lots of comments i actually dont like it. i prefer discretion.
if not having shrep means people will not reply to my message to meet etc then fair enough.
as long as the not having shrep does not influence if i can attend socials etc then i dont care.
people whated this, some pointed out the pointlessness of it, and i feel what we have now are peopel just with another feature to complain about.
you wanted it, you got it, dont moan if no one wants to use it use the best tool you have , common sense.

Half the trouble with SHrep is it tries to be all things to all members.
Until it's adopted by all it's useless, if nobody uses it, it's redundant but 'optional' is the worst possible lash-up.
Serial time-wasters will never activate it, those with it off by choice will eventually suffer, people who use it only to find it won't give an accurate reflection of the truth and will get disillusioned with it...we're quickly falling into the last category.
So much promise - so little delivery..
For a lappy this offers great value from around £360

There is a Shrep system on this site. If you arrange your meets through this then feedback can be left on their Shrep if it is turned on.
Just naming and shaming on the public forum is not allowed on this site
Dave_Notts

And there is the crux of the matter - if it's not then there's no-way to leave a comment.
Also the reverse of those that do turn-up and don't have SHrep active.
We've recently arranged a meet via SHrep but it's also a problem if they don't 'accept' the meeting request and then fail to arrive.....

I just had a message from a guy and went to have a perv at his profile where I noticed that he had a negative shrep.
He had posted the comments which basically said that they had arranged a meet which he had to cancel at quite short notice but he did let them know.
What is negative about that? Shit happens and people sometimes have to cancel. At least the guy let them know!! Well done this guy for not hiding it. I would think twice about meeting the people that left it!
There should be a way to dispute the shrep that people leave or at least comment on their comment. I'm starting to notice more and more flaws in this system.

But how do you know that is true - he could just be covering a genuine bad SHrep? dunno
Think of your profile as your marketing pitch - the better the pitch the more response you will get. (Would I meet me if I read this profile?) Read others profiles and use what appeals to you in your profile.
As has been said in many of these types of forum post before. You will get out as much as you put in and it takes time.
Engage in the chatrooms, post in the forum, have well written ads, go to socials / munchies etc, etc, in other words put yourself about and get known.... It's the only way!
Search profiles on what you are looking for and within a distance you're prepared to travel. Drop her/them a well written personalised mail (not just a wink or a one-liner), cover the points they're looking for in their ad / profile and how you can meet them.
On a first meet, always take extra care and attention with appearance - well dressed, subtle after-shave, arrive on-time always does it for us.
<< Check out the 'Events' section for anything happening locally.
<< Check out the 'Advice' section.
Check out the let's meet forum as well.
Having both here:-
Pairing - you can via blue-tooth but Apple use a cut-down version and so far I've only managed to get it to make calls not exchange data or with any other blue-tooth device here.
Verdict - problematical.
i-phone4 - a bit like Marmite, you either love it or hate it.
Verdict - I'm in the hate group at the moment. Much prefer the Mk3.
i-pad (wifi) - It depends on what your primary use for an i-pad is. as a book reader it's rubbish in bright sun. As a quasi Internet browser it's OK in a wifi spot but as with all i-apples it can't handle Flash player so vids don't show and the chatroom of SH of course!! lol unless you jailbreak it but you will invalidate your warranty!!
i-pad (3G) - It will depend on your mobile provider and the quality of their 3G offering it can be sloooooooooooow to refresh (if using abroad - check the data-limits in your contract these can lead to HUGE bills).
Verdict - good for somethings - crap at others.
Hope that helps...
You never see them these days - have they gone 'underground'??
Who's a 'secret' pipe-smoker then?? lol
The scenario:-
Woke up this morning, went for the usual shower & shave, only to find the razor blades had gone blunt - search for replacement blades - none in the house. Looks for electric razor only to find the dammed things lost its charge. Today's excuse will have to be 'designer stubble' lol
Women do it all the time, some men wax their backs / chests / legs etc - so why not a facial wax for blokes..??
Has anyone ever tried it? Or, is this a waxing step 'too far'confused:

the other thing to take into account when buying fuel is there is different quality Morrison's and sainsburys buy a cheap grade of fuel
during the process of making fuel contaminated fuel raises to the top this is skimmed off and re-refined
this lower grade fuel is then sold cheaply to the likes of sainsburys and Morrison's
who are able to keep prices low

Not quite true Lizalenrob,
All fuel sold in the UK must meet the ISO standards of:-
BS EN 590 Diesel
BS4040 Unleaded Petrol
BS7800 Super Unleaded Petrol
And is the 'base' product that goes into every fuel tanker at a refinery or depot. The difference is then made by adding an 'additive' (basically a detergent to the base fuel)
this gives the difference to the 'brand' (eg Shell's 'V-Power' or BP's 'Ultimate').
In days past - this used to be buy your petrol and then add a bottle of Reddex or similar.

Having a referral feature is something that we've always wanted to add to the site. Running a site of people, getting new people on the site is one of our goals. If there's just one person that invites someone here who then joins, that's one more than we would have got.
If someone doesn't want send any invites, I suspect they'll just ignore it. From what I know most members have a 'swinging' email account separate to their 'real life' one. I guess they'll invite contacts from that address book to the site, or if they know any addresses off the top of their head, type those in themselves - we're not expecting members to invite friends and family as that would just be silly.
To follow, top referrers will be rewarded with an incentive backdated to when the referral system was launched, but for now, to keep tongues wagging, I won't say what that is.

Do we win the bag of gob-stoppers? :notes:
They are provided free to some members :giggle:
I've got an old free account does that qualify us? lol
We've had the same problem in the past.
These days we vet the Rental Agents as much as the tenants, we insured against rent-default (agent & tenant), insure the building and take out landlords insurance to cover anything that the deposit doesn't cover in the way of internal fixtures & fittings.

If people don't want to use it, then don't, no one is making you.
I really don't understand why you are all going on about it. I don't like it and won't be using it, so I'll be walking on by.......
If you don't like it walk on by.........
Now who wants a shagg?? lol  :bounce:

Not exactly the point Sarah.
I don't dispute the right of the folks at SH Towers to add anything they wish to this site either for the benefit of the membership or commercial gain (whether used or not).
The original question was 'what is it' and 'why do I need it' - it appeared out of the blue, no pre-release communication to expect it, no documentation on how to use it or the benefits to the membership of SH.
I get the distinct feeling that the Mods and the Ops were also 'caught on the hop' like the rest of us....dunno
As others have said, the forums are here to discuss topics of interest to the community, threads that are posted and are of interest are read and sometimes posted to, others that we have no interest in are indeed 'passed-on-by' - we don't pop-in and leave a post on them saying rubbish thread why did you start it! (although on second thoughts looking at some of them we wish we had  )
Agreed we can and will pass on this 'function by' out of personal choice as we do with other functions on here (IM / Videos / Personal ads) or passing by some rooms in the Chatroom as they don't appeal, but that's not to say they are wrong as others may and do have a use for them - it's their personal choice on how they use the site.
Instead of being new added functionality - it's fast becoming a PR Disaster No communication from 'Admin' and 'defensive' Mod comments will just add fuel to those regular forum posters on here to feed on.....and that was not the original intention of this post.

Well Mods and Ops on here do not get paid.

Can't say as I fully understand the ins and outs of it just yet Gufuncouple, but it would seem it works like this . . . .
If you had an email address that you ((( had hopefully only ever ))) used purely for swinging purposes, and if you had over a period of time built up a number of email addresses in your contacts book, through other websites, MSN, etc, and if they didn't already know that SH as a website exists, or that you're a member of it, and if you thought that they might like to be members of a website they had so far managed never to have heard of in all their swinging days, then you could choose to invite some of those contacts, at which point SH would send them a spam email in your name that looks a lot like this . . .

@ Admin. You had better have seriously thought this through and tested it to absolute destruction, cos like a muppet I've just played with it to see what it does? I only clicked my email in the send list, but it's giving me an error on an address I did not click saying I've already referred them?! :?
N x x x ;)
Cheers Neil.....
Holy F*** - leaves referrals well alone. Who'd be insane enough to use it!?
also notes that you can't import Facebook lol

If you don't want to use it, then just walk on by and ignore it! lol

or work colleagues..... blink  banghead
Shock Horror!!
Marmite is now more expensive than petrol per ltr!!!
I'll have to restrict home movement now as I only get 3 sarnies per shag :upset:
