Good afternoon chef-de-booze
After last nights bender - one 'hair-of-the-dog' please (a shot of all the above + a raw egg)
t.v.m.
Anybody in here got a paracetamol?
Elliot,
It appears that the highlighting of 'extras' members is a bit random - I can see my account highlighted, but when viewing the same on another members pc is shows 'unhighlighted'....
There seems to be a time-lag between turning a cam off and the removal of the name from the Live Cams list (seems to be between 10-20 seconds)?
New bug:-
Desktop Chat
When setting a text colour (blue) in the main room - when you whisper it defaults back to standard (black)..
Elliot,
If you are using both the IM and the new Chat - any messages on the IM appear as 'whisper' windows in the main chat in the highlighted 'yellow'. Is it possible to distinguish these in another colour (and a msg - You have an IM Message') - it's really confusing to think someone is whispering you going into the window and seeing a 'blank screen'.?
Cheers Elliot - yes, was a local issue here F5 cleared it.

Did you try going in via the Extras Lounge?
I've been through a research PhD (although many years ago now) whilst working.
It really depends on a number of factors - what your current job is and the time they will allow you, what your home personal circumstances are (the kids/hubby/friends time etc) you can spare, how 'dedicated you are to 'academia' and the benefit of having the end result (the PhD).
It IS a huge investment in time and effort (luckily I had a supportive employer and not many drains on the personal life at the time). But the ultimate reward of the PhD was worth the effort.
Everyone doing a research PhD goes through ups and downs over the years and it's important to have personal 'support' inplace that you can call-on when the going gets tough (family & friends as well as others taking the course). I found it a real help to 'block' time slots in a weekly calendar then divide the monthly course deliverables down into the blocks but always make sure that these didn't clash with other 'priority' events in the calendar (birthdays, kids school sports days) and such like. i aslo added a 20% time contingency to my learning plan (which really helped) as either you have the 'extra' time needed to get the work in, or you had 20% free time as a bounus that could give a bit of a 'break' to recharge the old brain batteries (bad was to use that time to 'get-ahead' with the next block).
Whatever you decide, good luck.....
After starting my own room i was able to go into another 'created' room and 'kick' a user in there - it seems that you can retain 'host' rights across user created rooms - is this correct?
If you try and access a private room with the incorrect password - the system generates a 'spoof' room rather than leaves you in the main room.
Anybody who has installed it before 15:00 today - needs to reinstall the upgraded version from the main site Chatroom page.
It's part of the new Chatroom..........
minor issue
if pasting a link and using the http:// form - the chat interprets this and insets a smiley from the IM ( :/ )
If you only see 1 logon option on the Chatroom page - with the message 'As you have an older browser....'etc, then you are running IE8 in 'compatability mode'.
Issue Resolution:
IE8 > Tools > compatability view settings = off
Restart IE8, log back on to the site , Chatroom , you should now see the twin logon's for the new Chatroom.
Click on LAUNCH BETA CHATand you should be in.
