An Open Letter to the Owners of SH
Dear Owners,
The recent problems with the site, especially the Chatrooms is making our SH Community a laughing stock...............

Really, where is SH being a laughing stock? fact or your persception?
13.4 We do not warrant that the functions of the website or the Services will be uninterrupted or error free, that defects will be corrected or that the Swinging Heaven website or the server that makes it available are free of viruses or bugs.
From the T&C.
Errors / breakdowns happen...........
We are members of a number of similar sites as are lot of other SH members. When this site is not available it does get discussed on other sites. We can see the effect that these conversations have on non-SH members and the negative perception that creates. If we were sitting on SH and people from another web site came on moaning - what perception of that of that website would you have?
Personally, I wouldn't like to argue 13.4 in a court of law. We appreciate breakdowns happen, software screws up - that's not the point! We all accept that it does, the point is that paying for a service to be provided consitutes a contract in law in the UK - 3rd party providers are not exempt where this forms part of the overall package at the point of connection.
An Open Letter to the Owners of SH
Dear Owners,
The recent problems with the site, especially the Chatrooms is making our SH Community a laughing stock.
Whilst we all appreciate that hardware does fail, software has glitches and broadband connections have a life of their own. These problems are occurring with increasing frequency and as paying customers for the service, we do expect either a reliable stable service or when problems are experienced a reasonable feedback on when service will be restored.
The payment for access / service constitutes a contract between SH and it’s customers and we are not currently getting this service on a regular and stable basis.
We understand that server hosting is provided for SH by a ‘Third-party’ provider. This service and support is obviously below par and the current service provision agreement with them needs to be reviewed in the light of the current problems. With a site like SH it required 24x7 support and a defined time-to-fix. As there is no direct way of reporting problems via Admin to the ‘hoster’ they need to provide active systems monitoring to identify and alert support when problems occur. This is a responsibility of the SH owners to put in place with your providers.
If the problems are generated by software changes by the site programming team, then there is obviously a fundamental business systems problem that allows defective programming to be released to a production server and it is again the responsibility of the owners to provide a proper process to alleviate this from happening and disrupting the chargeable service.
Having watched the vitriol from some users towards both Room Ops and Mods, these volunteers with soon resign having ‘had enough’, the paying customers will search for other sites which provide a stable service and move. The nett result will be reducing revenue, less money for site development, more problems and ultimately a business failure (which none of us want!).
Please take note – DO SOMETHING and keep the CUSTOMERS informed. A lot of us are very loyal to SH and been members for many happy years and hopefully for many more.

Yes, nice to see the list growing...
We're back at our fav venue this time - so lets make it a good one!

THIS SOCIAL LIST IS NOW CLOSED
After the success of the April social, it’s time to arrange the May social!
Venue TBC and details will be sent a week before the event.
As always, please get your name down early so we can gauge the numbers attending and put in your diary, if you subsequently can’t make the date – please post us a message to that effect.
Unfortunately in the past, people have put their name down with little or no intention of actually turning up on the night. Over the past four socials, we have kept a list of those attending and those not attending. If you have 3 no-shows against your name then you are unlikely to receive an invite.
Mr & Mrs Gu
Nice to see a few new faces along with the regulars.
will be sending out the details in the next few days.
Hugz,

Full details of the location & booking link sent nearer the time as usual, so get your names down.
STOP PRESS................28th MARCH
Ladies GO FREE - There is no need to purchase a ticket for ladies - just turn up for free entry.
Those already on the list should now have the info on the location.
Mr & Mrs Gu lol
Congratulations Elliot & team.
In general a 'positive' step forward in the terms of capacity and reliability. The old hardware and configuration was becomming unreliable and must have been a nightmare to operate.
Hopefully, after the initial 'bedding-in' others will find that the changes are for the better and that we can move forward together.
As regular room hosts, we only have one 'gripe' in that the hosts controls for the room have not improved to give us more options than just 'kick' or clear chat. Also the control button just says 'undefined'.
If one wanted to be 'really picky' it would have been nice to get some communication from the SH Management team before the changes were implemented, rather than the mass-heartattack that happened yesterday. This really seems to be at the heart of most peoples negative reactions.
As for the 'tossers' comments in this thread - they've been around since day 1! 1 server or 4 makes no difference. Only good 'active' room hosting will keep them at bay - if you open a room, you have a responsibilty to control it! If you have a problem with another user - TALK TO THE ROOM HOST... if they can't help - go find an 'admin' or 'ops' person.
Technology moves on - old harware and software becomes unsupported, so change is inevitable - hey I started on DoS and progressed to Vista - what's the difference??!!

Mods edit - I have removed your avatar, no genital shots please
For member information:-
if you have installed any of the following applications you may experience problems leading to a delay and/or the room crashing on you:
BBC i=player
Channel4 4OD
Sky Bybroadband
These applications contain a P2P application called provided by Kontiki. This application grabs bandwidth but does not release it after use, and therefore the Adobe Shockwave player cannot get the minimum bandwidth it needs to run.
Uninstalling the above players does not de-intall the file. Users will need to remove the kontiki and/or kservice sub directories form their PC. After removal users will need to reboot to remove the application from the system memory. It is also advised to run a search for being installed in other sub-directories and also to search the Windows Registary using to remove entries in the registary.
If you require more information on this invasive application - please search Google for for the full horror story. :!:
Hope this helps..
Our chat now works perfectly smile
